Guest guest
I think this is as individual as anything else in these procedures. I had the braces for 16 months before surgery. Had surgery in late June, got the splint out seven weeks later. Went back to the ortho the next day and we got to work. BUT, I got shingles, and everything came to a halt for a month. Still, I was out of the braces by the end of October. Not six months, by anybody's reckoning. My guy did most, but not all, the fine tuning before surgery. Someone else's mouth may need different treatment. I did get retainers, with instructions to wear them 14 hours a day, two days after the braces came off. And I do. Best, Cammie .. > according to my oral surgeon, the braces need to stay on approx another > 6 months so the dentist can 'fine tune' the teeth
