What good news from your dentist.....if he says it might take years to get any feeling back, then I have a little hope. Yeah, it's the kissing that's the worst....I can laugh about the bits of food and drink and drool! (I tell my students that if I walk out of the classroom and find drool on my face that they haven't told me about, they're all getting a quiz as punishment!) That buzzy feeling....kind of like when you hit your funny bone, huh? Every once in a while, when I go to the gym and lift some (really light) weights over my head, I feel a warm sensation running up my neck, across my numb chin, and onto my cheek....and my lip too! For a couple of hours afterwards, I have tinglies there. However, I can't get the experience to repeat itself when I want. It's just random times. Sometimes I can lift those weights twice a week for a month, with no results whatsoever. It's all a mystery. Guest guest Posted January 16, 2004 Report Share Posted January 16, 2004 Hi Ann, I agree with Cammie that nerves do what they want, when they want it and that if you are getting any kind of tinglies that's a good sign. It is frustrating when they stop for a couple weeks and you wonder, " Hm, is this it then? " but then they begin to start tingling again after a week or so. I mentioned that my dentist asked if my numb bottom lip buzzes or feels like a burning sensation when I go out into this frigid air (20's this week). I told him yes as it had just happened a week before. Guess what? It's colder than ever here and I noticed last night (18 degrees) that no buzz or burn. Nothing. Then that night, in the warmth of my home before bed, I felt a little jolt in there. So it is so weird, I agree. Patience is the real test here. Good for you with your students and the drool watching and quiz getting! You can be confident you're lips and chin are clean in class! That's so funny!
