Hmmm -

I'm 43 and had surgery 6 weeks ago and it was all paid (with no hassles

whatsoever) through Blue Cross California. I had my Oral Surgeon do

the communicating with them to get the approval - I didn't deal with

them at all.

Good luck.

Methinks Blue Cross can vary tremendously from state to state, and

from policy to policy... My Blue Cross paid everything but the

braces, and paid $1,000 to $1,200 of that.

I get mine through my work. Most individual policies, I think, do not

give coverage that is as good -- or maybe you just have to pay an arm

and a leg to get them.

My surgeon also wrote all the letters, submitted molds, models,

pictures, x-rays, etc. Bless him!

I do know that here, anyhow, when you appeal a denial, you can

request specifically a panel of oral and maxillofacial surgeons to do

the review. That helped me once on a totally different matter that

was medical but occurred in the mouth. It's worth a shot.

Best,

Cammie
