Hi All:

Well, today is my two weeks post op from upper and lower jaw

surgery. I had a 5mm tilt on my upper jaw which was leveled and my

lower jaw was also leveled and advanced for an overbite. My doc has

me on soft foods and I have two bands which I am to take off during

meals and when brushing.

I still have swelling in the jaw line and under my lips, nose which

also looked stretched and out of place. My lower lip and chin are

still very numb, but i can detect feeling in certain spots. Most of

the time my lip and chin feel very tingley almost like a constant

buring sensation like it's between waking up and numb. It's hard to

describe, but it feels very sensitive. Most of my trouble now is the

talking and eating. It's when I try to talk a lot that I get

frustrated because I realize how numb and swollen everything still

is. I also get cravings for some real solid food. My friend came

over this weekend with a sack of hot wings and fries and ate it in

front of me while I was eating my pudding and jello. (Wahhhhhhhh) But

I have managed to keep my weight stable with lots of high calorie

shakes, ice cream, mashed potatoes etc.

Also part of my problem was having a jaw that grew lightly larger on

my right side. My doc mentioned that he still may need to trim it in

a second procedure to give me a fully balanced face. Just curious if

anyone else has had that done? I'm not excited about any second

procedure, but I'm so pleased to now have such a nice level and

normal bite.

Thanks

Mark
