Guest guest
I was wondering just how limited I will be in speaking this Wednesday after surgery. I am having upper and lower done, (open bite) and will be banded and splinted shut. My four year old daughter was inconsolable today when I tried to explain to her that I was going to the hospital in two days and would not be able to sing her to sleep for a while...she's sensitive, cried for days when I got braces...anyhow, I kissed her goodnight tonight and took a long shower after just crying and feeling like a rotten mom. I know, pms and 2 days preop don't mix well, but how exactly can I prepare her for this? Will I be able to speak at all? Alix
Guest guest
Hi Alix! I'm banded with a splint and I've been able to talk right after surgery. You might find it hard the first few days and people may have trouble understanding you - but I'm 6 days post-op today and I can now be understood pretty well (and I feel no real pain when I talk for long periods of time) I even had a friend who called yesterday and wanted me to talk to him on the phone and he was able to understand me. You seem to have an adorable daughter - I'm sure she'll get use to you not being able to talk too much after surgery and if you feel up to singing in a few days after surgery - I'm sure she won't mind if mommy mumbles a little when she tries to sing If she can - give her little jobs to do to help take care of you - it might make her feel better. Good luck! Johanne > I was wondering just how limited I will be in speaking this > Wednesday after surgery. I am having upper and lower done, (open > bite) and will be banded and splinted shut.
