Guest guest
Stacey, Is there any indication that the child is more aware? Sometimes when there is a change the tantruming comes with a greater awareness of surroundings etc..... for example the child starts to throw the remote control from the TV when before they never even touched the remote control ever Rich
Guest guest
--Stacey, this is exactly how my son was 24/7 before diet and enzymes. Are you gf/cf? It is possible that he is going through a withdrawl from the peptides that were making him so " mild mannered " before. I have read that some kids become more aware and possibly that it is sensory overload? Is there any possiblity that he is celiac? If so the peptizide would not work with gluten infractions. My son is 2 1/2 and has always been sooooo mild. We have never had a problems with tantrums before and since I started the Pep on Sat, he seems like he is lost to me. I reported earlier about the green stool so that leads me to believe something is going on with the enzymes. We have been sitting him down to eat and then the tantrum starts. He starts throwing himself out of the chair and then arching his back so you can not restrain him. I never thought a 2 year old could be so strong. He has also had trouble transistioning from one thing to another. If we say " come on let's go take a bath " , he freaks out on us. My husband and I are at a loss as to what to do. It seems to be getting worse too. He is having a bad time at preschool also. > > We are only giving Pep at the moment. Can anyone suggest anything? Is this normal? Guest guest
Oh dear you will probably get lots of answers here but I would start on Zyme it is not as strong and even then just half a cap with each meal then step it up slowly then if thats ok introduce the pep at an even much slower rate depending on reactions, thats how we did it infact I am just using Zyme at the moment and will retry with the pep shortly very very slowly it is very strong. You could be having other issues like the phenols - but hopefully someone else will advise on that I don't really know much on that. Don't be afraid to take it very slow. Guest guest
Patti- well, I thought we were GFCF but I am not sure we are 100%. Maybe he is having some withdrawal things going on. I have to wonder too if it is the taste of the enzymes. Today I tried to give him some sugar free jello. He took one bite with out enzymes just fine. Then I sprinkled a little into the next bite and he wigged out and started a tantrum to keep from having another bite. has never been this way prior to the diet and since. I have always had the luxury of having this mild mannered little guy- detached as he is- but mild without tantrums. I should have put in the subject line of this post " Houston- we have a problem " LOL stacey amazed with herself that she has a sense of humor still [ ] Re: Day 4- not looking good --Stacey, this is exactly how my son was 24/7 before diet and enzymes. Guest guest
> We are only giving Pep at the moment. Can anyone suggest anything? Is this normal? Will adding in Zyme Prime possibly help? My son was absolutely positively 100% gfcf when I started Pep. In fact, he only ate white rice, corn, chicken, and turkey, which I KNEW he tolerated. He STILL had reactions from Pep, from the *minute* amounts of sunflower seed oil I was using. I would recommend you either reduce the quantity of Pep, or use the ZP instead. I stopped the Pep and used ZP for several weeks, which incidentally also caused a reaction altho much milder, then I added the Pep back. The reactions were mild and definitely tolerable, and right now my kids are throwing little plastic " ball pit " balls at each other, sort of like a pillow fight or snow ball fight [the SoCal version of snow LOL] altho less potential for destruction of my house, but much more messy to clean up, altho I will make THEM clean it up LOL You can also consider the new Pep with none of the ingredients that occasionally cause kids problems. I hope that helped. Good luck. Dana

My son is 2 1/2 also. He has just recently started doing some of the same things, such as arching the back. I'm happy though because he's actually starting to act like other two year olds I know. Before, he wasn't interested in his surroundings. He didn't look at things, didn't try new things. He was almost like a new born that did nothing. Does this sound like your child? Guest guest
I'm new to this list but reading this made me remember when I started my son on enzymes (different brand) when he was 3 and he became violent. The enzymes had rice flour in them which he was allergic to. [ ] Day 4- not looking good Hi group We are into Day 4 giving 1/3 Pep with meals and snacks and things could not be worse. Guest guest
I did notice that he was a little more interested in a new toy today but not much. Other than that, I have not noticed any new awareness. Tonite he started slapping his ears in frustration and this is entirely new to us. I am having a hard time holding on to the fact that hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel. It just seems like I am making him so much worse. What if I lose him entirely and we wind up in a worse boat than when we started? I am getting really worried. stacey Re: [ ] Day 4- not looking good Stacey, Is there any indication that the child is more aware? Guest guest
Stacey, I'm so sorry you're having to watch your child go through this. I am certainly no expert, but I have read many times on this list that the first 3 weeks were awful, and then suddenly a new child emerged. Most of the time, posts like this are followed by - " I'm so glad I didn't give up " . I sure hope it's just withdrawl with your little guy.
