Guest guest
I think you might wait a couple more months to see the final product- -- as I understand it, the surgeon moves your jaw more than he needs too because it will slip back a little bit within a period of months. At least that's what my surgeon told me he was going to do. And even though I KNEW that, I was mightily depressed to see my " new " profile in the mirror after the post-surgical swelling had gone down. By 6 months after surgery, however, that exaggerated profile had subsided, and I did not wince when I looked in the mirror! Seems to me that the one rule I had to keep learning after surgery was " It takes longer than you think it will. " Good luck. I bet your jaw muscles will regain their snap and strength soon and re-adjust your profile to your satisfaction! Ann > I just had surgery on my lower jaw, after orthognathic work. Guest guest
I think Ann's right. And I think there's another even-more-truism that goes along with these procedures: No matter how long it takes, it will always seem as though every step of the way is taking FOREVER!!! Guest guest
Believe it or not, 6 weeks is not a lot of time. I'm 15 weeks post-op and I still have some swelling. At 6 weeks, I looked normal enough to go out and all, but I definitely still had a lot of swelling. You can see the difference...BIG difference...by looking at the difference between my 6 week and 7 week photos. (Site 2 under " Smooches aka etta " ). I hated my looks for a seemingly long time. I'm happy with them now and, like I said, I still have some swelling. Give it time...it will get better. Smooches post surgery I just had surgery on my lower jaw, after orthognathic work. And I am soo disappointed. I was happy with my face before all this, and I think my face looks worst now than before. I cry every time I look at my old pictures and the face I used to have. I had the operation 6 weeks ago, so I know for a fact that it's not swollen anymore. I could have just pulled out two teeth and fixed my problem that way. But my orthodontist kept telling me how much better I'd look if I chose the surgery. Did anyone else ever feel this way?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
