Thanks for the tips Hilary, and keep us posted on your progress. I am

really worried about the first 48 hours post-op, my frustration level

is generally low and I think I am going to have a rough time. Were

you ale to spend a lot of time sleeping? because that is the only way

I think I will be able to get through the first few days.

Let me add a little something to Hillary's great list. I had a dry

erase board (like some on this site have suggested,) and let me say

it was my LIFELINE in the hospital, as well as the first days at

home before I could take my bands off for short periods.

The nurses at the hospital were impressed - and it made their jobs

easier, knowing what was wrong/what I needed at the time.

Good luck!

hi marsha! i wish so badly that i could tell you i slept the whole

way thru the hospital....but in actuality did not sleep a wink for 2

days. EVERYONE is different tho...so don't let that freak you out

too badly. i just could not get comfortable and was having trouble

swallowing...and THOUGHT i could not breathe well. in all

honesty...i was just panicking, and was getting tons of air, LOL.

just try and get comfy...whether that is in the chair or bed in the

hosptial room, and realize it is only a couple of days....when you

get home you will be SO much more comfortable...and now i sleep

lots!! it is a difficult experience, mentally and physically...but

you can do it...i promise!!! just hang in there, maybe learn a

mantra to calm you if you have trouble sleeping....and good luck!!!

feel free to post any other questions...all i have is time right

now! LOL- hilary
