Guest guest
Your teeth may be sraight now, but once your jaw is moved they may not fit together, that is why you need braces, I'm sure many people on this site can tell you that the closer you get to surgury the worse your bite seems to get from the movements the ortho makes. this is so that when surgury is complete your teeth will come together reasonably well. Guest guest
Hi , I had my surgery without getting regular braces on. The doc put on temporary ones for the surgery. They do need to be there for the banding or wiring after the surgery. And I agree with Cammie, they were worse then regular braces. My surgery was primarily done to correct my sleep apnea, so the doc did not want to wait the year or so to do the regular braces before surgery. But I DO have them now. I guess I did things sort of backwards. (BTW--this is the third time in braces for me now--so you wouldn't be the only one to have ever done that) Even though the doc moved both my upper and lower, there was work to be done on my bite still. Good Luck with your decision. a > Hi Everyone, > I'm new to this site and would appreciate any information anyone has > to offer =) Just a little background on my situation...I've had > braces 2x in my life, my jaw alignment was normal up until about 3 > years after my braces were removed, I was about 20 at the time.
