Hello all,

I'm having a maxillary reduction Jan 14 (Le Fort I Maxillary Osteotomy). His

resident did the work-up on me and went over the

consent form. He did include 'necrosis' as a possible risk, meaning death to

the upper jawbone and gum tissue. He (the resident)

said the odds of that happening were in the order of 1 in 100,000, and that

neither he nor my doctor have EVER seen it occur. My

doctor said 'it simply doesn't happen anymore'.

Has anyone ever seen or heard of this occurring?
