Not from being cut, necessarily, but perhaps from being bumped, stretched or otherwise damaged during the surgery. It is a Good Thing, even though it may not feel so. There are also stabs and burning sensations that are the same thing. Just wait until it itches, but you can't scratch it! (unless you've had that already.)
