I am 5 weeks post-op (upper and low jaw) and just

discovered

something that significantly reduced my swelling and

numbness. I

wanted to share it with this group since I've picked

up so many great

tips here.

My discovery was a spa treatment that is given using a

" Lift 6 "

machine made by LPG (the company that invented

Endermologie). I

think it is generally marketed towards women who are

not quite ready

for a face lift but who are experiencing some

puffiness and sagging

in their face. But it has been used for some other

things (including

burn patients) to stimulate circulation in the face.

Basically, a technician uses a machine with various

little nozzles to

stimulate circulation and drainage in your face. They

start by

stimulating all of your lymph glands (to increase

drainage) and then

go through 5-6 different types of stimulation for

facial muscles and

tissue. I think this is similar to the MLD (Manual

Lymph Drainage)

that has been recommended elsewhere on this site but a

bit more

stimulating and better overall consistency since the

machine exerts

the exact same pressure all over and you're not

completely at the

mercy of the technician's manual dexterity.

I went to get a regular facial and the salon owner

convinced me to

try this. I was pretty cynical about it initially

(how could a

machine be better than manual massage?!) but I have to

say that I'm

now more than convinced it works.

It was so effective that I could really tell a

difference in my

swelling within just a few hours. That day, I ended up

making a

second appointment to go back a few days later. I've

now had 2

sessions and have almost no swelling left. More

importantly, the

numbness in my upper lip and cheeks is SIGNIFICANTLY

reduced. I now

just have a tiny little bit of tingling/numbness

whereas before my

upper lip and cheeks were completely numb. My doctor

had told me to

expect numbness for up to 6 months but I think it will

be gone within

another few weeks due to these treatments (I'm going

back for another

one next week).

I told my doctor about this and he is now going to

recommend it post-

op for all his patients.

Here is a link to a website that explains this

treatment a bit

further.

Hope it works for you--
