Guest guest
Lynn - Day 10 and you're eating already? Oh wow...that is soooo wonderful. What did you have done? I had upper and lower and I don't get my splint out until next week (10 Dec) which will be one day short of 6 weeks. Also, I'm still not allowed to chew anything at all. I'm still on the non-chew/liquid diet. Sara - I found the best way to describe the splint is that it's sort of like a sports mouthpiece like they were in wrestling or football (without the strap), except it's detailed with imprints of your teeth on the top and the bottom. Smooches Re: Lynn, from sara I had my surgery done in the USA and I was in the hospital for one night. the splint is a little plastic thing they put over your teeth afterwards... I was confused because i was reading on here where some people wore it for up to 8 weeks and others wore it only for a few days... I also read where it was pretty painful to get out and that made me scared! But I'm not sure if you'll have one, i dunno if eveyrone has to have it or not?? I dont remember my surgeon mentioning it before the surgery either but i could be wrong. But i got mine out today (day 10) and it was a piece of cake!!! He just clipped 3 wires and it came right out. He said I can eat basically anything I want to now unless it hurts. He said i should stay away from really crunchy things though. I still have 2 rubber bands in my mouth also, but he said i can take those out whenever i want (like to eat and stuff, but I should sleep with them in) I'm so happy though that I finally got the splint out, it was starting to get on my nerves! lol. You'll do fine with the liquid diet, it really wasnt that bad.I was expecting to have to be on it a lot longer though.. lol --Lynn:) > > > thanks lynn, you have really reassured me. reading these messages > > on > > > this site has scared me so much! lots of people have sed they are > > > still swollen months afterwards! i really dont know what to > expect > > > coz i know everyone is different... i hope im like you and dont > get > > > too much swelling! are you on a liquid diet still? my surgeon sed > i > > > could loose up to a stone! i know its the wrong time to diet... > but > > > the thort of loosing a stone is quite exciting! i bet i sound so > > > vain, just worrying about how ill look...but im a teenage girl, > and > > i > > > go to a looks-obsessed school! what more can i say! it wud be > great > > > if we cud keep in contact, seen as your in the same position as > ill > > > be in in a month. love sara x by the way, did u have a underbite > or > > > an over bite?
