It's hard to actually dissolve, but at least it's drinkable (which does NOT mean it tastes good!! It's absolutely disgusting!!) But for the last few days I went to the pharmacy to get the equivalent in liquid. Is your prescription a painkiller? If it is, I got some children's Motrin which really worked for me. Ask your pharmacist, even if the actual medication is not available in liquid, you may try and find the equivalent. Good luck, and Happy New Year! Guest guest
Oh man, I feel for you. I had surgery the day before you, and I have been on pills for a week now. We tried crushing lortab and the antibiotic and they never dissolved which made it disgusting. One thought, have you tried throwing it in the blender with applesauce and apple juice? like a mini apple smoothie? Not sure how tightly banded shut you are but that worked for me for a bit. I recall a nurse crushing up a pill in the hospital and trying to feed it to me with broth. I threw the syringe across the room and decided I would never, ever do that again! Now I can open just enough to squeeze a pill in there. Good luck! Alix > My Dr gave me a prescription that he said only came in pills. Guest guest
Did you try hot water (tea or something like that)? > My Dr gave me a prescription that he said only came in pills. Guest guest
Drugstores here have little gadgets called " pill crushers " that grind them up. (Be sure, though, that it's ok to take this particular medicine that way. Time-release things, for example, need to be swallowed whole.) I think the crushers are intended for people who have trouble swallowing tablets. But once you get the tablet crushed, I'd think you could stir it into the liquid enough to be able to get it down. Guest guest
I'm hoping you no longer need it, but Lortab can be prescribed in a liquid. I know, because I drank a bottle of it, post op. ;~) Not all at one time, of course! I'm not saying anything about how it tastes, either -- I think maybe they mix some nasty in with it, just so you won't be too enthusiastic about taking it. ;~) Cammie > > My Dr gave me a prescription that he said only came in pills. Guest guest
And so do antibiotics. I don't know whether they mix nasty in with these, but they sure are foul-tasting!
