Guest guest Posted January 8, 2004 Report Share Posted January 8, 2004 Well, I got my expansion maintainer put in tonight - my orthro kept saying " now this isn't my idea, not my idea " - he says everything is perfect and that the surgeon did a really good job. The orthro also said that he is at the point that he wants to take the braces off (at 15 weeks now) and doesn't know what else to do, but since the surgeon insisted on getting this appliance put in he will wait about 4 months or so. So, I guess that is good news (everything looks really good) although a little disappointing (have to wear braces for awhile longer - oh well what 4 more more on almost 4 years!). Oh, and good new - my surgeon gave me the ok to start trying to start a family after checking a new x-ray and throughly examining me - yippee!!! My life can finally move on (it has been on hold for the past almost 4 years). I have a question though when does the numbness in the gums and palate start wearing off?
