Guest guest
Just called my insurance company and found out that after denying my upper/lower claim and my first appeal, they have approved my second appeal and certified my surgery and hospital stay (next Tuesday). Thanks to everyone who encouraged me and others to keep fighting (you were right that they just keep denying your claim in the hopes that you'll give up). For anyone out there still fighting an insurance company, I have this advice--FLOOD them with information. I sent them x-rays, cephalometric drawings, pictures of my molds from every angle, a detailed letter from my surgeon telling them all of my symptoms (my surgeon's office wasn't very proactive in this regard so I wrote a letter for them to send, which they revised and signed), a detailed letter from me telling them my symptoms and my orthodontic history, and a WONDERFUL letter from my orthodontist stating that there was nothing he could do with orthodontics alone. If you think your surgeon's office is not doing enough, you may have to get in there and do it yourself (yeah, they hated me over at my doctor's office for a while). Good luck to everybody else who may still be fighting....
