Guest guest
Barbara Cote' @ (616) 393-5775 Hi! I would be very interested in the question as well. How would you format this question? Also, did you know about the Kettering-Butzel tool on health access? As we have so many other questions to ask, we could use a proxy question also. Guest guest
To Alayne: I believe you may find a new report on Hispanic health insurance access by C. Schur and J. Feldman of the Project HOPE Center for Health Affairs to be of use. You can find it at the Commonwealth Fund website: www.cmwf.org or call 1 888 777-2744. I am excited to finally be able to participate on this list, thanks to Mimi. I am a phd candidate in medical anthropology @ University of Florida and a project director of several farmworker-focused efforts here in Florida.I was wondering if anyone had seen any newer data on insurance coverage (either public or private) as a proxy for health access for Latinos/Hispanics, especially Mexicans. I am interested in getting a handle on how different groups are - or are not - covered for basic health services but the data is not easy to find. I am also not specifically interested in farmworkers but rather Mexicans as a group.Any leads would be most appreciated!Best wishesAlayne ***************************** Alayne Unterberger, MAProject Director, Pocos Hijos Para Darles Mas FAX: (813) 914-0616Main contact: (813) 760-6700 (cell) or (813)985-2283 (phone) aunterbe@... Guest guest
The other places I would look are at the annual Current Population Survey (by State, from the US Census Bureau on health insurance coverage), the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Study (by State, from the Centers for Disease Control/National Health Scenter for Health Statistics, and the National Ambulatory Care Visits (also CDC/NCHS) study. The state health departments are generally very helpful in identifying data stratified by income/race/Hispanic or other variables. Start with their web site; my experience is limited to four states recently, but I have had good experiences. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lighthall Sent: Friday, June 29, 2001 7:05 PM Subject: RE: [ ] introduction & question To Alayne: I believe you may find a new report on Hispanic health insurance access by C.
