Guest guest
Hey Tara, When if your surgery? Mine is on March 8th. I think I'm about 10 weeks away now.... I haven't started buying too many things yet. You have to get your wisdom teeth out at the same time? That's gonna be rough! > I am scheduled to have orthognatic surgery in 8 weeks. Guest guest
Dear Tara, In the index on this site there is alot of info on how to prepare. Also, the www.zip-n-squeeze.com site has great print-offable sheets detailing good things to have on hand food and/or comfort wise, things to look forward too, questions to ask your Dr., etc. The post-surgery diet is only liquid (maybe through first week, as per your Dr.) and then only pureed through the 6th week (normally). We had Gatorade, Ensure, Instant Breakfast, Protein powders to mix with juices, etc on hand for the first week. Need something to get it into your mouth, also. The zippy bags from the site up above work great for some, a turkey baster work well for others, we have used the large syringe from the hospital the most. After the first week, the pureed foods are whatever you can tolerate pureed. Again, the recipes in the booklet from the site above are great. Most finally get so hungry they will eat anything pureed. Most important through out the entire time is to drink water, water and more water. How wonderful that you are planning ahead. This is so important because you will not feel like doing anything for the first week or two. I'm sure you will get lots of help from this site. The good people here are very generous. Merry Christmas to you, Juli Countdown to surgery (8 weeks) I am scheduled to have orthognatic surgery in 8 weeks. Now that I am done Christmas shopping, I am attempting to determine what items I will need to have on hand post-surgery. I have an overbite, and my surgery will entail having my upper jaw moved back and my chin brought forward. The surgeon also indicates that he will remove one remaining wisdom tooth -upper right- during the surgery (I kind of want to get the wisdom tooth removed now!). I am seeking advice as to what items I should purchase, and how to prepare myself for post- surgery diet.
