Guest guest
Nora, Don't ever feel guilty about that! Thank God that he gave you the realization you needed to have the surgery BEFORE you ever got that far. If there's one regret I have, it is that I let myself get to 605 lbs. and congestive heart failure at age 32 before I woke up and started LIVING! But sometimes we can get so stubborn God has to slap us upside the head before we'll wake up. :-) Congratulations on your own decision, and ENJOY it! The difference it will make will be INCREDIBLE! Guest guest
Nora, Why have guilt that you have an insurance company that can see that it is smarter, let alone cheaper in the long run, to give you a surgery now that can help prevent the more serious, not to mention long term, co-morbitites of the obese. To save the cost of insulin, hypos, testing supplies, not to mention the regular lab work and doctor appointments. Or maybe they see someone who is still in the work force, being out for a minimal amount of time versus someone who has to be put on long term if not lifetime disability payments. Maybe the insurance company also sells life insurance, and sees this as a cheap way to keep you living. Better to have insurance premiums getting paid rather than having to pay out. Okay, that was a bit overdramatic but if more insurance companies saw what this surgery really is, they might be more inclined to rethink thier attitudes. When I started this path, I was relatively healthy. I happened to get unlucky and shuffled to the bottom of the stack. Why feel guilty that you have a this chance to keep your health, instead of trying to regain it at a later date? Don't feel guilty just because you seem to have dealt with smarter people. boogie
