Kathleen,

How're your nerves? We're getting closer to the big day. I have my

pre-surgical appt on Dec. 2. I'm stilling waiting to hear from my

ortho regarding hooks. He's been on vacation. Did you donate your

own blood? I did. No big deal.

I can't wait to get my zip-n-squeeze bags and book. Hopefully, the

book will have some good food planning ideas.

I know what you mean about sore lips. After I had my two sets of

models done last week, the corners of my mouth had these awful

sores. That was just from me stretching my mouth open wide. My mouth

is very small. Can hardly wait to see what it'll look like after

surgery!

I bought a couple of CDs today to take to the hospital. Cammie

suggested Bach. I bought one and listened to it in the car. It was

relaxing.

Well, hang in there and eat, eat, eat!! (I've gained 2 pounds...yeah)

Hi Becky,

Nervous? Oh yeah, I can't quite believe I have gotten to this

point. I feel like I have waited so long and at the same time it

seems too soon. The closer it gets, the more I realize how big this

surgery is. I found out at the hospital that the surgical suite is

booked for 4 hours, that is a long time. And when they are sending

most surgical patients home in 24 hours, 4 days seems like a real

long stay.

I wasn't asked to donate blood to myself. I don't think anyone

ever mentioned that to me.

I am going to the library in search of Glenn Gould this week. When

you mention Bach, he is the master.

Hi Kathleen,

I agree with you 100%. It's hard to believe it's almost time. I'm

coloring my hair right now. Thought I might as well do the hair,

since my face is going to look different. Why not?

I think my surgery will be approx 6 hours total. I'll find out

Tuesday. Got most of my Christmas shopping done. I've been using had

sanitizer like crazy. Everyone around me lately has been sneezing

and hacking. Can't get sick now.

Well, gonna go see how the hair looks. Wish me luck. Then I'll crack

open the Pepperidge Farm Christmas cookies that I told everyone not

to eat. He He!!

Hi Becky,

My mother-in-law has already brought me Christmas shortbread. She

knows how much I will miss it. Yummy.

I am going to have the works at the hairdresser on Wednesday.

Color, of course, I am 50 after all. Just can't decide whether to

cut. It might be easier to have a little extra length right now. At

least I could pull it back, out of the way of the jaw-wrap. I feel I

need at few treats during the next 10 days, don't you?

I have been told my face won't look so thin after surgery, I hope

that is true. I have been trying to gain weight, just bought some

boost with extra calories. And protein powder.

I am having lower advancement only, you must be having something

more to take up 6 hours.

I was at a family dinner tonight and everyone was sneezing. What a

scare! I washed my hands all night long. The hand sanitizer is on

fast idle!!

Hi Kathleen,

Shortbread sounds great!! I've been eating like a pig. I can't

seem to get enough to eat. I know this is all psychological, due

to my future eating habits, but jeez, this is ridiculous! Are you a

small woman, too? I'm 42, and very short and petite.

My hair appt is this Saturday. I'm just getting it trimmed...it's

shoulder length. Anything longer just makes my long face look

even longer. Wouldn't it be great if our faces appear shorter after

surgery? I'd like to have some of my chin chopped off too! It's

huge. My hair color turned out ok.

You're lucky you're only having lower done. I have an underbite

with open bite, hence both jaws being worked on. I've been told

only about 1% of the population has what I have. Lucky me!!

Keep washing your hands! Everyone's sneezing out there.

Take care,

Becky

Hi Becky

I have an overbite with an open bite, but the braces along with

the removal of 8 teeth have helped the open bite problem so well that

the OS decided not to do the upper jaw. Lucky me! I was so very very

anxious about those extractions, but it helped so much. I also have

lots of TMJ issues. My nerves are mostly about the TMJ, will it get

worse after this surgery? I can't believe that my jaws will be open

that wide and that long without any bad afteraffects. I am also

nervous about being claustophobic when wired shut.

I am tall and slim. The doctors have not even mentioned gaining

some weight, but my friends and family have harped on it for weeks. I

am trying.

I am planning to go out this weekend and enjoy some good food! And

wine!

Here's to us.
