My surgeon told me it was fine for me to stay on the pill. Since I

normally take it in the morning, I just switched to taking it at

night. I took my pill when I got to my hospital room after my

surgery. It was no problem at all.

I guess you need to find out if you will be wired. I was not, hence

I could swallow all the pills I wanted with out any problem. If you

are wired, you make need to crush your pills & mix them with juice.

I talked to my doc and he suggested switching to the patch.... unless you are

allergic

to bandaids. I didn't think to ask him if it would be okay to crush the pills

and take

them in liquid, but that might work. I would suggest you ask the doc or

pharmacist.

Hey,

I was actually wondering the same thing this week. Talked to my Doc

about it and he said I could crush the pill too. I did not even

realize taking my pill would be an issue until this week.

Hope your doing well

Just a word of caution: you will be given antibiotics while in the

hospital to prevent infection. You may even have to continue the

antibiotics when you're released. Antibiotics are known to make the

pill ineffective, so it would be wise to use another form of BC, such

as condoms, if you actually feel up to playing.

Now, a word on feeling up to it: that was the last thing on my mind

for a good six weeks. I needed all the energy I could get to heal.
