Guest guest
Thanks for the support, Johanne, I may have been a little rough in my responses. I shouldn't check in with the Board until I've had my patience check for the day. Cheryl

Guest guest
Cheryl, I used Ensure for a while after surgery. It held me over very well and has goooooood flavors. Then the doctor gave me at the pre-op visit tried and true liquid recipes which I began to use and they were tasty too. I don't understand why people need to go to health food stores for meal replacement thingies either. Why not just make good use of normal food that isn't all chunked up with chemicals and additives. I am still on a non chew diet 9 weeks post-op and I am using real foods cooked the normal way. Just either have to run it through the food processor or just cut it up real small and the food meets mr fork or ms spoon. Don't give up! Guest guest
Cheryl and others! Boy, I disappear for a week or so and look what happens! I have to add my 2 cents and I hope it doesn't start things swirling again. The " old " folks know that I had a terrible time with nausea and diaharrea postop for a good 10 days. I could not tolerate milk products as it produced too much mucus to be comfortable and fruit drinks caused the diaharrea to worsen. Everything " natural " caused problems for me. Boost was all I could tolerate. I would have died (or needed an IV) without it. Sure my first thought was " natural is better " but it just didn't work that way for me. Just a note that this isn't an exact science. Sometimes we just have to eat what will stay in our bellys after a surgery. Especially when the goal is to put on some more pounds and get used to eating (drinking) again. I find that there's much discussion between natural and " artificially enhanced " drinks. Is it really that big of a deal, separating the two? It's not like folks are drinking a fifth of vodka after surgery instead of something that's considered good for you. Ducking for cover, Irish! > Thanks for the support, Johanne, > > I may have been a little rough in my responses.
