Guest guest
Honeychild and Laurie, As with everything else, it just depends on the individual. I had upper and lower on Oct 30 and the feeling is back completely on the roof of my mouth and my upper lip is just about normal. My bottom lip, however, seems to have a long way to go. I would think that the feeling would have come back at the same time - NOT! There is even one portion of my bottom lip and chin where, if touched, I can't feel a thing, but it still has the strange sensations. I'm really sorry to say that there is no real answer to the " when " question other than " eventually...maybe " . Good luck and happy healing, Smooches still numb... hey I haven't posted in a while. I had upper jaw surgery Oct. 14th (in case you didn't know) and my upper gums were numb after and the roof of my mouth was numb too. The feeling came back a little on the roof of my mouth but its still numb and on my upper gums the feeling has hardly even come back yet...how long does it take for the feeling to come back?? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
I can open my mouth about as wide as the width of two fingers. But I have TMJ so I couldn't open my mouth as wide before surgery either, so I guess it is back to normal, I don't remember how wide I could open before surgery. My oral surgeon told me I had to stretch my jaw so it would open wider or else I would never be able to open that wide again. But here's the thing, I was done having regular appointments with him, but then I had to call for an appointment because I wanted to get something checked. And he tells me then that I have to stretch my jaw, which means if I never made that appointment I never wouldve known

Guest guest
Yes, there is always a possibility for permanent numbness, but not likely. However, it may take a long time...some have had no feeling for years and then all of a sudden, the feelings started to return. Most likely, though, the numbness will be almost completely (if not completely) gone within a year. My OS told me that complete healing can take about 5 years although the noticeable healing usually doesn't take nearly that long. Smooches still numb... > > > hey I haven't posted in a while. Guest guest
I'm sure I won't have permanent numbness, I guess it just takes time. it doesn't really bother me too much so it's ok > > Honeychild and Laurie, > > > > As with everything else, it just depends on the individual. Guest guest
Hey Laurie!!! Now at 15 weeks almost and have the same numbness that you do as well - all of my gums and part of my upper palette. Hope it wears off soon - the spot on my chin that was completely numb is just now getting a little sensation back - uggh!!! This is a long process. Hope you are doing better. I can almost open 3 fingers wide now. > love to know the answer you get..i also had upper gum on oct 9th.... and > upper gums are still numb-- also how wide can you open your mouth ..is it back to > normal? thanks laurie .. > > >
