Guest guest
it's been said before, but this is the one place where people really understand what other jaw surgery trekkers are going through. i got my splint out yesterday, and i was soooo looking forward to it. it was an awesome feeling to get it out...no pain no real discomfort, and most wonderful when they irrigated and brushed my teeth. but when i got in teh car and looked int eh mirror, i didn't really like what i saw. before surgery, my teeth were completey straight across on the top (i'm typing with gloves on here...sorry for typos), andnow the line of my top teeth is not straight. the two front teeth stick down lower than the otehrs, and my incisors are uneven lengths. when i saw my family they loved the new smile, but i'm really not sure i like it. but i know enough from previous posts to know that i have to give it time and give myself time to get used to it. but i'll admit, i've had a few good cries since yesterdays appointmnet. thanks for understanding guys. :\
Guest guest
Congratz on getting your splint out. I know how you feel about the teeth. The splint has caused one of my back molars to tip from the way it hit it. My ortho said not to worry, he will fix all before its over. Im sure yours will too. Have faith, splint's out...i feel weird it's been said before, but this is the one place where people really understand what other jaw surgery trekkers are going through. i got my splint out yesterday, and i was soooo looking forward to it. it was an awesome feeling to get it out...no pain no real discomfort, and most wonderful when they irrigated and brushed my teeth. but when i got in teh car and looked int eh mirror, i didn't really like what i saw. before surgery, my teeth were completey straight across on the top (i'm typing with gloves on here...sorry for typos), andnow the line of my top teeth is not straight. the two front teeth stick down lower than the otehrs, and my incisors are uneven lengths. when i saw my family they loved the new smile, but i'm really not sure i like it. but i know enough from previous posts to know that i have to give it time and give myself time to get used to it. but i'll admit, i've had a few good cries since yesterdays appointmnet. thanks for understanding guys. :\

Guest guest
, Not only do you have to get used to it, but you may have to " get used to it " several times. By this, I mean that your teeth may very well move again to different (more straight) positions. My splint was removed on Wednesday and my teeth have changed since then. My lips have also changed. I've decided I'm not even going to try to get used to it for another few months...I'm just going to go with the flow and TRY not to get discouraged. It will get better...you'll be fine. Just think, this time next year, you'll be so cute, you probably won't even remember what you looked like today. :-) Smooches splint's out...i feel weird it's been said before, but this is the one place where people really understand what other jaw surgery trekkers are going through. i got my splint out yesterday, and i was soooo looking forward to it. it was an awesome feeling to get it out...no pain no real discomfort, and most wonderful when they irrigated and brushed my teeth. but when i got in teh car and looked int eh mirror, i didn't really like what i saw. before surgery, my teeth were completey straight across on the top (i'm typing with gloves on here...sorry for typos), andnow the line of my top teeth is not straight. the two front teeth stick down lower than the otehrs, and my incisors are uneven lengths. when i saw my family they loved the new smile, but i'm really not sure i like it. but i know enough from previous posts to know that i have to give it time and give myself time to get used to it. but i'll admit, i've had a few good cries since yesterdays appointmnet. thanks for understanding guys. :\

Guest guest
When you see your ortho -- soon, I presume, if not already, tell him or her what you see that you don't like, and ask what can/will be done about it. It may be that he has some leveling to do yet... It's often an emotional experience to see the changes. Try to relax about it all. If it WORKS for you (which you don't know yet, i'd imagine) that will be a big help as you grow older, I promise! Guest guest
You may just need some adjustments from the orthro before you see better results. I had 5 broken brackets that he had to fix as well as doing some adjustments before I was happy and my midline looked right on target and everything looked straight and nice. > it's been said before, but this is the one place where people really > understand what other jaw surgery trekkers are going through. > > i got my splint out yesterday, and i was soooo looking forward to > it. it was an awesome feeling to get it out...no pain no real > discomfort, and most wonderful when they irrigated and brushed my > teeth. > > but when i got in teh car and looked int eh mirror, i didn't really > like what i saw. before surgery, my teeth were completey straight > across on the top (i'm typing with gloves on here...sorry for > typos), andnow the line of my top teeth is not straight. the two > front teeth stick down lower than the otehrs, and my incisors are > uneven lengths. > > when i saw my family they loved the new smile, but i'm really not > sure i like it. but i know enough from previous posts to know that i > have to give it time and give myself time to get used to it. but > i'll admit, i've had a few good cries since yesterdays appointmnet. > > thanks for understanding guys. > :\
