Guest guest
Hi all, I understand the gums have to be cut to get to bone and was wondering if the gums recede where they meet the teeth after surgery? I asked because i just had a gum graft due to exposed root on one of my teeth(upper right canine) and i would hate to have my gums recede after the gum graft . Guest guest
The way I understand it, the gums aren't really involved. For example, if the do the upper jaw, they lift your lip up and out and cut the skin inside your mouth (just below where your nose is), so they are *above* where the gums are--just the bone is involved. And, likewise, for the lower, they cut inside the lip down towards the chin, so it's below the gums. Now, having said that, I know *nothing* about gum grafts, but I assume it's closer to the teeth, so I'm still pretty sure the gums would stay intact. Guest guest
I had the opposite reaction. I had 'gum contouring' I have a gummy smile and excess gum. before this and they grew back and then some. I think it was the braces and swelling that pushed them down. I wouldn't worry even the stitches cause more gum growth. My back teeth aren't happy with the extra coverage which may lead to a cap soon. shiloh > > > > > Hi all, > > > > I understand the gums have to be cut to get to bone and was > > wondering if the gums recede where they meet the teeth after surgery? > > > > I asked because i just had a gum graft due to exposed root on one of > > my teeth(upper right canine) and i would hate to have my gums recede > > after the gum graft . > > > > BR
