Worried about catching a cold 1-week pre-op

I've been taking vitamin C and a multivitamin, daily, the last couple

of weeks to prevent catching a cold before my surgery (Dec 31). The

last couple of nights when I'm sleeping my throat hurts and then when

I wake up my sinuses are plugged. I am fine within 30 minutes upon

waking and feel great throughout the day. I hope I'm not catching a

cold because I don't want my surgery postponed. I will ask my OS and

the hospital pre-admissions staff during my pre-surgical appts today.

Has anyone's surgery been postponed because of a possible common cold?

: My doctor told me that if I caught a cold, that I should

postpone the surgery. I was totally paranoid about getting sick

before surgery. Now that I've had the surgery, I understand why.

Having a cold on top of all this would not be a good thing! I

caught a stomach virus on the Monday night before my Wednesday

surgery, but was ok enough to have the surgery since I got better. I

let the doctor know & kept in touch about how I was doing, and

fortuanately it worked out. Hope you feel better soon. Get lots of

rest.
