hello . im clara from singapore and im a student just like you and im dying to

have the surgery just for cosmetic reasons just like you . i know alot of people

told as not to . but i and you . wanted the best . have you consulted any

surgeons yet ?

I hope that nobody here meant to tell you either to have the surgery

or not to do so. And from my standpoint, what is cosmetic to some

folks is a part of function for others. If you are so distressed

about your appearance that it gives you trouble interacting with

others, getting a job, whatever, who's so say that such is

not " functional " change? And who's to decide whose reasons are more

important than others'?

If you and your surgeon and ortho agree that you need the operation,

then why is it anybody else's business, except that of your parent or

guardian, if you're underage? It is not uncommon for parents to have

difficulty supporting these decisions.

There have been quite a few people who have had the surgery for

cosmetic reasons. And if and when you do, you may also be fixing

things that would otherwise give you functional problems, too.

Do check about your growth, though. That is an important

consideration, as a growth spurt can counteract the work you've had

done.
