Guest guest
I had upper jaw surgery this past December 30th. School started last Monday and I was able to attend my classes. Today's 15 day post-op for me. I got too tired walking to class -- walking to and from my car to get to my classes and going up the stairs. I'm thinking it just depends on you and the kind of surgery you will be having. Mine wasn't too bad. The biggest complaint I had was the nasal congestion. > hi everybody. got my surgery date today. it is feb 23. only problem > is i will be in school. i have no problem missing class for a week, > but do you think i'll have enough energy to sit through class the > second week after surgery? when did you all return to work or school? Guest guest
I stayed home from work for 10 business days, but feel like I could have gone back after 1 week if I had to. > hi everybody. got my surgery date today. it is feb 23. only problem > is i will be in school. i have no problem missing class for a week, > but do you think i'll have enough energy to sit through class the > second week after surgery? when did you all return to work or school? Guest guest
I was lucky and had 4 weeks off from work. I could have done easily with just 3, but two weeks is stretching it and I certainly would not have been able to work after just one week. I guess it depends on the kind of surgery you're getting: I got the full deal (upper, lower and chin), so I guess recovery was a bit longer for me. It depends on how well you can feed and get your energy back. > > > hi everybody. got my surgery date today. it is feb 23. only problem > > is i will be in school. i have no problem missing class for a week, > > but do you think i'll have enough energy to sit through class the > > second week after surgery? when did you all return to work or school? Guest guest
I'll be going back to school next week after having lower surgery. It has only been a few days since the surgery (really the second surgery, they had to go back to fix up some things). I feel good, except for the swelling, and that won't really be noticable in another week or so. Be certain that you are not given that much pain medication. When I first had upper/lower it took me about 2 weeks to feel halfway normal. However, when they had to go back in after 5 weeks post-op my surgeon made sure I wasn't on much medication (morphine, etc.) because I need to go back to school immediately. The day after my surgery, with only some light pain med I was feeling " normal " enough.
