Guest guest
Hi , My friend just had his done, he did nose first then now jaw. My hairdresser also had hers done. Both full out septums and bridges. From what my buddy said the packing they place in the nose was the worst most irritating thing he'd ever been through. So tell her not to expect too much breathing relief off the bat. He also said disolvable packing my arse... My hairdresser said she was a little weirded out by blowing her nose and seeing stiches but her scars were very tiny on the inside of her nostrils and she said she healed quickly. Both said less than a week to get to about 75% or better. Let me know how it goes for her I still have to book mine, post uppers of course... Guest guest
Hey Shiloh, Thanks for the info. I had to have a needle biopsy done some years ago by an ENT at the hospital, and saw some people who had work done and the lovely packing they had in their noses - and we think WE look funny after our operations!!! Two were comparing notes, they said they had trouble sleeping because of the packing, so I warned her about that, also about probably needing to sleep upright to keep the swelling down. And of course I told her to ask about blowing her nose and whether she could clean it gently with q-tips. Thanks again, I'll let you know how it goes. She's looking forward to breathing normally. > Hi , > My friend just had his done, he did nose first then now jaw. > My hairdresser also had hers done. Guest guest
Hey Violin Gal, I heard that there have been the occasional person to combine both jaw and a rhinoplasty...can you imagine how attractive that would look Hmm that gives me an idea, maybe I should have my after surgery photos framed - lol. Can you imagine! Actually maybe I will one day get one of those photo walls and hide it in there in a tasteful black and white. Mind you I could have quite the collection add in a few post birth pictures and my 2 going on 4 surgeries. Guest guest
Maybe you should just consider sending the photos to the inlaws > Hey Violin Gal, > I heard that there have been the occasional person to combine both > jaw and a rhinoplasty...can you imagine how attractive that would > look > > Hmm that gives me an idea, maybe I should have my after surgery > photos framed - lol. Guest guest
Hi , I had that surgery done in November of 2002. I think this was a good first surgery to have before my jaw surgery in June of this year. Is it a sinoplasty or a septoplasty? Like you and Shiloh have both heard, the packing IS the worst part of the surgery.. I got mine taken out in the recovery room when I was still doped up, and it was the worst feeling, as it felt like the packing extended all the way to the back of the throat and you could feel it slide along the whole passage as they pulled it out.. sorry for being graphic! It felt disgusting blowing my nose, I don't think I blew my nose until about 2 weeks after surgery even though I felt fine after 1 week. Since I got my packing out in the recovery room, I still had to wear this gauze contraption that hooked around my ears and laid just under my nose to catch the bleeding. It's been about a year and a half since my surgery, and it still feels weird sometimes going out into the cold. Tell your friend that it may feel as though her septum is sucking inward when out in cold weather. The biggest thing I have noticed since surgery is that it can be quite painful to yawn of all things, and I really think it has to do with my nose surgery. Wish your friend luck for me with the surgery, Kirstin > Hi everyone, > > A colleague of mine at work here is having her nose straightened and > nasal passages opened up (we think sinoplasty is the correct term) > on Thursday of this week. > > Is there anybody out there who has had just this type of work done > and who could help me out with some suggestions for her? Guest guest
Thanks Kirsten, I passed this post along to my friend. She's feeling better about it already. Only 2 more days and she's on the way to a new and more functional schnoz!
