Can not believe that the doctor's put you through all that. I can understand why it would be a touchy subject. Seems as if they treat us like guinea pigs sometimes. At times I feel real good about the care I get, at other times I just shake my head and wonder if they really know what they are doing. Medicine is still just a science though, and when one considers how our bodies are put together and the abuse they get you wonder how we live as long as we do. Mk. BTW- I've been taking this for quite a while now and I'm still racking up new autoimmune diseases, so it's not working in my case anyway. Marilyn > > Marilyn, it is a good idea to check your blood sugar levels, especially when taking pred, but only people who are " predisposed " will develop diabetes, so don't worry too much. My sugar levels went up the first time I was given pred, and they explained all this to me, although they said I was not yet diabetic it probably would develop. Which it did. Also fruit is still sugar, its just more " healthy " sugar!!But fruit does have other benefits, like anti oxidants. I do try to eat as much fruit and veg as possible. Guest guest Posted March 22, 2001 Report Share Posted March 22, 2001 But on the good side, I was a guinea pig for the measles vaccine and for Cortizone (my exzema was so bad it was just open oozing sores all over - sorry to be so graphic, but it was horrible) and it took care of the problem and I never got the measles, in my case, they knew I was dying so they were willing to try anything.
