Hi Shiloh,

My ortho was worked on me the whole time while I was pregnant with

#1. My ortho was finished and had my teeth ready for surgery when my

daughter was a few months old but it took me another 6 months to get

an appointment with the surgeon. By then I was pregnant again and it

was the surgeon who didn't want to do anything until daughter #2 was

weaned. He didn't want to do the surgery until she was at least 12

months old because neither he nor I wanted to jeopardize the

breastfeeding. I guess he felt that my body didn't have a lot of

reserves because I was already very petite, working long odd hours

at a stressful job and taking care of two small children at home.

With the added stress of surgery, I probably would have had to give

up breastfeeding. I had my surgery a few days before Lexi's first

birthday. By then, she was only nursing once or twice a day anyway.

In retrospect, it was the right decision for us. I did sneak in a

nursing session after the surgery and Lexi immediately had an

allergic reaction to the antibiotic I was taking. She ended up

having to go on steroids for a few weeks so that was it for us.

I think it's awesome that you were able to take care of and nurse

Baby Shiloh post surg. I'm such a wimp. :-)

Hi,

Well I guess since I didn't work during my pregnancy and got a

year's maternity leave paid for after I was a little more relaxed

going in and had little else to stress myself out. I was also not

very 'petite' after giving birth having gone and gained 48 pounds ;)

I had reserves! That are gone now!

I guess I didn't worry about the breastfeeding as it was done under

the window of 2 months, if he'd been 6 months or so he might not

have gone back after a day - ha ha yeah its hard to wean them.

Finally got him off at 22 months ;) and 22 months for the other one

too. But my oldest is ten so I only had one, two little ones is ALOT

of work.

Hey but a year you did your duty! Looking back though if I hadn't

been able to nurse for some reason he didn't go back on the

breast...I would have felt so guilty.

Shiloh

Who this time is having surg 3 before getting pregnant with thing

3 ;)
