I'm on the fence, 1 year post-op. In another year or two I might feel

differently. I wouldn't recommend it for purely cosmetic reasons

unless it's really significantly affecting your life.

Hi Kate,

No regrets here, but I agree with Neil, I wouldn't have it for

cosmetic reasons alone.

I'm going to have to disagree w/these other opinions. Can you live

w/an overbite? sure. Would you want to? I know i didn't, which is

why i went for the surgery. If you know this surgery can help you

look better, why not?

You have to think this through, i did for 4 years cause i wanted to

be 110% sure this is what i wanted. Your going to have side-effects,

pain, discomfort, etc, you have to be mentally ready for all those

things. I have no regrets but make sure this is something you truly

want.

Hi Kate,

This is a very personal decision---to have the surgery or not..

You have to really want it. I still have some numbness on my chin

and lower lip which may not go away... it does bother me but all I

have to do is look at my " before " photos to realize how much this

surgery has done for me for me. The numbness isn't that big of a

deal and it is only partially numb, not completely.... Anyway, I

could not close my mouth comfortabley before surgery and eating in

public was always very stressful for me... I was so self conscious

all the time.. I absolutely love my results and have absolutely no

regrets. My bite is perfect and now I don't even think about it...

But it is NOT an easy process and you really do have to want it... I

didn't have the courage to do it when I was younger... fear factor

and all .. but now that I did it I am so glad I did...

I guess if you " can't decide " , then maybe it is not the right time

for you...

Best of luck whatever you decide.
