Guest guest
Can happen, friend. Most likely, from what I've read, owing to imbalance of the jaws and apnea or grinding issues. One often has these troubles unaware. If you want/need to know more, maybe a sleep studies office. (Pulmonologists do the work here, mainly.) The palliatives are, I think, mostly unwieldy and unpleasant, like a C-Pap machine, to keep positive pressure forcing air into your lungs. Obnoxious, bulky, but sometimes what lets folks make it through the night and get rest. And with a sleep study, you might just find out what's going on, and why you're having trouble sleeping, or sleeping at odd times. (Like behind the wheel, while you're driving somewhere to work.) Some people find the surgery on the jaws changes the positions enough to resolve apnea troubles. I hope you'll get the multi=bang for the bucks. Have you talked with your ortho? Have you had a sleep study? If you're having insurance issues (sorry, but I can't remember) the apnea argument may be important to help make your case... Do you have a spouse who's heard you make great snoring and hesitating noises while you sleep? As in, " Geez! I was wondering whether to call the medics... " That has been my case with my two husbands. (Nope. I don't play with other folks who aren't my spouses...) Or maybe you even need something so simple as a bite plate or a splint. I not trained. I have good wishes for you. Sounds like a nasty problem. Cammie > Since getting my braces on last year it appears as though I've > started having bouts of insomnia. Guest guest
Ms. Cammie, Thanks for your response. As you can probably tell by the time of this post, it's yet another sleepless night. The first OS I went to did get my surgery approved through a 'probable' diagnosis of sleep apnea due to my retro jaw. He had planned a sleep study if needed, but it turns out I got approval without the sleep study. I haven't mentioned it to my current OS (had to change because of changing insurance this year). But, with only 4 months to go until surgery, it may be a moot point. My bride can't wait for me to stop snoring like a chainsaw! :-) Thanks!!!
