Guest guest
Be patient Annie. It's best to wear the braces for a few extra months and get your bite/teeth fixed right than to get them off too soon and have to wear them again later for a few more years. Hang it there, you'll be fine. If it's any consolation, I had my surgery on 30 Oct and was told that my braces MIGHT come off in the summer, so count your blessings...it could be worse, but you want them to do it right. Good thing you have an ortho who WANTS to do it right. Again, be patient. It will be all right and you'll be very happy with your end results. Happy healing. Smooches Still in braces..... Am really fed up now, i had my operation on Oct 1st and was supposed to be getting my braces off on 21st January (my 30th birthday). Been wearing braces for two years now. I am not 100% happy with my teeth, they are fine except for some further tweaking to be done on the right side, if that gets sorted then i'll be over the moon. But i have to say I'm losing my patience now, maybe i'm just having a bad day? Feel really yucky. Have another appointment on the 18th of Feb, so who knows, maybe that could be my lucky day? Guest guest
Hi Annie, I know it gets frustrating but do try to be patient. If your braces taken off prematurely it could necessitate you having braces again in the future. You don't want them taken off until you, your ortho and your surgeon are 100% happy with where your teeth are. I feel like I'm going to set some kind of record. I got my braces on in May 1996 so I've had them almost 8 years (mainly my fault because of a military deployment, a move to another state, two pregnancies and breastfeeding before I had my first surgery in Sept 2002). I'm getting anxious about finally getting them off, too but I'll need to be patient a while longer. Recently my surgeon said he wanted me to keep them on an additional two years to make sure that everything is stable. Ugh! I'm beginning to think that soon my daughter (one of the aforementioned pregnancies) and I will be going to the orthodontist together. Hang it there. I do hope maybe you will get lucky on Feb 18. Keep us posted. > Am really fed up now, i had my operation on Oct 1st and was supposed > to be getting my braces off on 21st January (my 30th birthday). Guest guest
Hey Annie, I know how you feel. Last year my ortho said I would be out of braces by Christmas and I could be kissing without braces for New Year's. He was off two months and I got my braces off last week. Sometimes it is difficult to get the adjustments spot on. But, believe me, it's well worth the wait. You're almost there. good luck on > Am really fed up now, i had my operation on Oct 1st and was supposed > to be getting my braces off on 21st January (my 30th birthday).
