Guest guest
Hi Everyone, (for those that aren't following my saga...I am 14 weeks post-op from upper to correct an open bite) Well my ortho agreed with all of my concerns regarding the gaps on the sided between upper & lower teeth. I thought for sure I would be getting a bunch more rubberbands to wear vertically on both sides. She had a different plan to try to tackle the problems. They removed 4 or 6 (can't remember) of my upper brackets which are porcelain and a major nightmare to remove. This took about 1/2 an hour. Once they removed the brackets they then had to grind off all of the glue (awful feeling). Finally they placed the new brackets on the teeth in slightly different positions. She hopes that this will bring the upper teeth down in order to close up the gaps between the upper & lower arch. I hope & pray this works. I go back in 3 weeks for her to evaluate me & also make sure that the gaps are not opening even more. If this doesn't work, we will resort back to multiple rubberbands on each side of my mouth. Ok that is my update,,,please keep your fingers crossed for me. Best, PS - anyone have a similar experience post-op, with changing brackets? Just curious...
