I'M HOME!!!

Hello everyone. I'm home!!! I had my surgery in Houston Sept 24

(Wed.). Everything went good and I was released from the hospital

this morning. I'm on broth and jello for another week and then my

doctor says that I will start directly on solid food. I just have

to " puree " everything in my mouth. The hospital stay wasn't that

bad. I had terrific nurses. Although they do love to come into your

room at all hours of the night. But I know that they are just taking

good care of their patients and want to make sure that we have our

medications and that everything is all right. I've had a lot of

burping, and passing gas. Ooops! But it is the silent type, thank

goodness. The ride home over those Houston freeways was a little

bumpy, and it made my stomach jiggle. So I put a folded up fleece

blanket against my tummy to give it support. And I made it home

fine. I'm already tired of broth and jello, but I figure I can

endure it for a while longer. When my dear husband asked what the

doctor said that I could do and what not to do, I'm afraid that I

stretched the truth just a " little " . I told my husband that the

doctor said that I could not even pick up a dish cloth or dust rag

for 6-8 weeks. And you know what?!! My husband said that was just

fine with him. I feel so good this afternoon, I hope that I don't

get over confident and do something stupid, like eating too fast, or

eating something that I really shouldn't. I really dread " dumping " .

But anyway, just wanted to say hello, because everyone on this list

has given me terrific tips and inspiration.

period - day 5-7 i added protein drinks then day 14 i can have v8, thin

Isn't it odd how all doctors are different on their instructions?! I

figured I would go to soft food right after the broth/jello. Maybe

I'm not so lucky after all by going directly to solid food. We'll

see. I will try to be extra careful chewing and the amounts. I

haven't added protein drinks or anything else so far. (Today is my

6th day out.) But I'm looking forward to having something else

besides broth/jello (to put it mildly). I don't have any hunger at

all. But I just want some of what I see on the tv, magazines,

friends, etc. My HEAD wants to eat, but not my stomach. I told my

dear husband that this is a huge habit that I have to get rid of.

But in the mean time, it bugs me terribly. But, I haven't cheated.

I've been good. And thank goodness, I don't have any problem with the

liquids going down. No pain either. Praise the Lord!!!
