Guest guest
I heard of a folk remedy for yeast infections (which thrush is). I don't have any personal experience to back this up, but I'll offer it as a cheap and easy possibility. Raw garlic supposedly kills the bacteria that feeds yeast. So if you suck on a raw clove, it might help. I'm told that if you slit or crush the clove first, more oil is released, which might sting or burn. (My eyes are watering as I type this. I've tasted raw garlic before...) Anyway, if you give it a try, let me know if it actually works. Guest guest
I have had thrush. In several places I won't discuss. Don't bother with the folk remedies. call your doc and get some honest to God fungus killers. It's way too nasty to wait for something to work slowly, especially when there are quick-killers, and when your mouth, with all that stuff keeping things dark and moist in there, providees a perfect nursery for it to grow. If it's too late to reach your doc today, there is an ancient, cheap remedy, gentian violet, which is sold over the counter here... But be warned, it will turn your mouth and everything else it touches purple. Deep purple. Purple that stains. If you can get at your mouth and tongue, you can paint it on your tongue with a q-tip. But be ready for deep purple. Thrush doesn't go away by itself, in my experience. There are rinses and other things, pills and cremes, that can help. Lozenges, too. But don't fool around with it and wait for it to heal itself. It won't. I have also heard, as a folk remedy, that chlorophyll (available in health food places) will help. don't bother. Get the real stuff. I once spent six months and a pile of money, with it under my arms, after a time of high stress (my first husband was dying), and a dermatologist cleared it up in a matter of days, after my gp had tried to treat everything from an allergy to deodorant to inflamed glands. Get the good meds, to start with. Cammie > I heard of a folk remedy for yeast infections (which thrush is).
