Guest guest
Tammy, I had really bad neck pain - I couldn't even turn my head from side to side for years. Sad part about it is that I had no idea it was associated with my bite. I also suffered from chronic migraines...the longest lasting 7 days! I had upper and lower surgery almost 10 weeks ago and I'm really thankful to report that not only can I turn my head completely from side to side (sometimes I think I might turn it all the way to the back - LOL!) without any pain at all, but I've had not even one migraine at all!! YAY!!! Smooches question about results Hi. I am scheduled for upper & lower on Feb 18. (2 days before my birthday. fun, huh!?) I am really excited now that the count down has begun. One of the reasons for having this surgery for me, not only to align my jaws in the proper place, but hopefully to relieve some of my neck pain and headaches. Did anyone else have chronic neck pain due to the misaligment of their jaws? if so, after surgery, have your symptoms decreased? I am so tired of hurting all the time and am soooo ready for this to be over with!! Thank you!! Tammy

Guest guest
I used to wake up at night with a terrible pain stretching across the back of my head from ear to ear. It was so bad I could not roll over or move my head. I used to pick up my head with my hands and turn it to the side, and then the pain would immediately dissipate. This went on for years, and then I was diagnosed with TMJ. I was put in a splint to settle my bite, and from that night on I never again woke up with that sort of pain. The only headache I've had since starting orthodontia (4 years now) is allergy/sinus headaches. I haven't even had my surgery yet. Neck pain is a part of life, but visits to the chiropractor and a massage therapist help. Both tell me to spend less time at the computer. (Get real!) My orthodontist gave me stretching exercises to do to strengthen and relax my neck. Heat helps, too. Kris > Hi. I am scheduled for upper & lower on Feb 18. (2 days before my > birthday. fun, huh!?) Guest guest
Tammy, just thought I'd address the headache issue..That was my main complaint before surgery. Head and neck pain. I was miserable. I am only three weeks postop, but I definitely do not have the same type of pain. For some reason, I think I had more postop pain than many people on this site. The pain for me following surgery has been the worst thing. I will say no more though, since I don't want to scare anyone and I think I am really in the minority here. But the good thing about it? I know it will go away, compared to the headaches I had for years that I was nervous would NEVER go away. My os said that lining up my jaw and bite would take the pressure off of my muscles to act out of sinc...and I'm happy to report, that so far, it has. Alix > Hi.
