Guest guest
Well I called a little while ago and they said he was with a patient but he would call me back. And this time he called me right back, I just got off the phone with him. He said it's probably from the plates. But he said to wait another month or two and see if it still feels the same or you would have to go back to the operating room. So I was like, well is it going to go away because it's really uncomfortable. He's like, yeah it should or have your mom call and schedule an appointment to get the plates removed. I hope this goes away because it is soooo uncomfortable. I was in study hall today in school and I wanted to just cry because it was soo annoying, it's not too painful but it's just such a bad feeling. > > Yeah I guess you're right. But, I won't be able to call until like > > 2:30 because I go to school. Guest guest
I am glad that at least you found out that it's not something that's gonna get worse by waiting. If it keeps on, I'd wait one month -- or maybe not even that long -- rather than two to go on and get the danged plates out. Or at least to schedule the appointment for doing so. Good wishes to you. Guest guest
Yeah, we'll see what my mom has to say about all this when she gets home. But he said, it could be the plates or it could even be the stitches like on the sides of my nose. But then when I said, well is this gonna go away cuz its really uncomfortable. He said about making the appointment to get them removed. So I guess it's more likely that it's the plates but i hope not. He said they don't normally have the be removed. By the way, just in case I need to know, what is involved with having them removed?? Is it a big deal or no?? > > Well I called a little while ago and they said he was with a > patient > > but he would call me back. Guest guest
On the 14th it will be 3 months. Oh and I don't see my surgeon anymore either. Besides the time I saw him in the hospital, I had 2 scheduled appointments with him after surgery. And he seemed so good about if I needed anything too. I do think I should be seeing him still, but he was like you know if you have any problems or questions or you just want to come in and have me check anything, don't hesitate to call. But when I called today it was like he didn't really want to talk to me anymore. Like I tell you, my orthodontist seems to be the same way. Like they just dropped me after surgery... > > > > Well I called a little while ago and they said he was with a > > > patient > > > > but he would call me back. Guest guest
My OS basically told me the same thing. She said that most people keep the plates for the rest of their life, some have them removed just because they don't want them there; but there are a few who do have some discomfort with them. She told me that if I feel any discomfort, she could remove them very easily in an office visit. Smooches Re: plates??? I was told by my OS that if you have problems with the plates or screws that it is more likely early on during recovery rather than later on in life. They said that they make an incision along your gumline where they originally made an incision and take them out - they said it is fairly easy. They also do it in the doctor's office under local rather than the operating room under general. > > > Well I called a little while ago and they said he was with a > > patient > > > but he would call me back. Guest guest
Honeychild, This just doesn't seem real. Could you possibly be misinterpreting what they are conveying to you? Are both the doctors actiing this way towards you or could it be that the receptionist or someone else is relaying the wrong messages? Even still, I would insist on seeing my surgeon as well as my ortho. Make appointments with them both and keep them. When you get in to see them, let them know the feelings you are getting from them and ask them about it. It may well be just miscommunication or a misunderstanding. I know that sometimes I say things and mean them one way and sometimes they arer misunderstood as something totally different. But if I'm not told about it, I never know that it's being misunderstood. However, everytime I was asked about it, I was able to convey the correct message and straighten the whole thing out very easily. Give your doctors the benefit of the doubt...tell them how you feel about how you're being treated. What could it hurt? It just may help in a big way. Smooches Re: plates??? Guest guest
Oh yeah and I was wondering. If they did need to remove the plates is it just a simple little procedure they do and then you are fine the next day?? Cuz he seemed to be telling me I had to go back to the hospital for it... > > > > > > Well I called a little while ago and they said he was > with a > > > > > patient > > > > > > but he would call me back.
