Oh, congratulations, ie! How wonderful for you. I wasn't wired, but my

lower looks like it did move a smidgeon after my splint was taken out, but not

enough to really notice.

Good luck on Wednesday.

Smooches

splints and wires

out/off.......movement?

Hello

Wednesday is the day everyone looks forward to for me. I get

these wires and splint out. I'll be banded however w/ elastics, but

anything is a relief, especially being able to eat food w/ texture.

I was just wondering how far, for the people that had upper/lower,

there lower moved after the splint was out? The doc said my lower

would move a lil and when I look in the mirror i can see that my

upper are a bit further than my lower, more than I expected.

Anything is better than my open bite was, I was just wanting to know

what people on here have experienced. And I wanted to know how long

people have had to wear the elastics after the wires.

Thanks

ie

ie,

Since my splint came out last month and the wires too, I have not had

bands back in my mouth as of yet. The reasoning is no pressure on

the jaw. The bands were to help hold everything rigid. Now when the

wires come out along with the splint, we want to start moving things

slowly and I still am on a non chew diet and I am almost 9 weeks post-

op!

The doctor will tell you to start moving the jaw.... in due time you

will begin the jaw exercises. I forget how little I was able to open

at first a low 20mm I know for sure and am up to a 38mm opening.

It feels great to brush and floss the bottom teeth. Still not

flossing the upper teeth due to where the cuts were made to widen the

upper jaw.

Do not rush things! Be patient like the rest of us.

Waiting patiently for the green light to lightly chew food again....

Carin
