Guest guest
trust me... i am not going to eat anything again that is not still with the soup catagory. I cant believe how terrible i feel. I can tolerate all my cream soups and even enjoy bits of the potato or beans with no problem. I thought if i got some of it out of my pouch i would feel better, but no go... I am glad to know this is normal.. i guesss..lol bowling ball is the perfect way to think of it. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, I know that I had terrible cramping feelings if I ate too fast, too much, or solids that weren't moistened or chewed enough. Because you are just starting solids, it may take your pouch a little bit of practice to get use to the new textures. Toi
Guest guest
Thanks Toi, I dont like that feeling. I know i chewed enough, but maybe the speed was a problem. Also it was a bit dry compared to all the things i have been having, soooo guess i wont try that again for a while. How long did it take to get your pouch use to new foods?? I am just looking for a month roughly. 3 months?? I dont mind the cream of potato soup or bean soup, etc. I will just add more solid food slower. Guess i was over confident in how I have been feeling so far...lol Hmmmm i love my protein shakes after feeling like that..lol. Two and 1/2 hours of discomfort is no fun...lol Could have been all night, I should be thankful. Guest guest
Hey... fuggetaboutit, LOL. You're welcome, but I'm sure I'm not a lot of help darnit. To be honest I had a hard couple of months post-op and found things like turkey chili, cream soups, refried beans, and eggs to be the easiest. Pure solids like fish and meats didn't work for me and I still have an occasion where chicken just doesn't wanna sit right unless its weeeeellll marinated or swimming in cream of mushroom soup from the crock pot. Strangely enough, beef was easier for me than chicken or shellfish. I got into a habit of chewing it up really good and swallowing each small bite slowly. Its funny to watch me eat now, I'm sure, but I do pick and cut my food up into tiny bites. Don't really think about it unless someone mentions it. I hope you begin to find things a lot easier soon. As much of a drag as it is to hear, time is really what your new system needs. Toi
Guest guest
Lori, It sounds like maybe you did eat too much. I started literally just having a fork full of salmon and chew, chew, chew, chew! I have been having a good time enjoying the time i spend with my friends and family while they stuff their faces and i delicatly eat my bites. Slow down a little, remember not to drink while you are eating, and chew~! son Ranch, CA Lap RNY 8/12/03 219/204/TBD > Hello all, > > I have been able to try some new things, semi-solid, like flaked > salmon, mashed potatoes, etc. What does it feel like if you over > eat? Guest guest
Thanks and other that have given me support. It doesnt cause me any pain or discomfort for my other foods, yogurt, applesauce, cream soups etc. But if this continues as i add new foods, I am going to talk to him. I was told to get a 3 minute egg timer and take a bite, then not take another bit until the timer runs out. I am going to try that. I also think the salmon was way too dry. The first couple bites that night in the restaurant went down fine, but when i reheated it at home.. ohhh man that was when the pain began. I have decided that chewing isnt all it is cracked up to be and I will wait a while longer to add those kinds of foods again..lol Lori - MI Open RnY 8/1/03 -24 lbs > > Hello all, > > > > I have been able to try some new things, semi-solid, like flaked > > salmon, mashed potatoes, etc. What does it feel like if you over > > eat?
