Thanks for letting me in this group. I am considering the by-pass

surgery and have heard good and bad things about it. I guess its like

that with all surgeries. I have been overweight all my life. I have

tried all diets, all meds and even binge/purge (that only hurt..ha) I

am so miserable with myself and I constantly think about being thin.

I am happy with myself as a person but the outside definately needs

much work. I am a Christian and I love the person God made me, I just

hate what I have done to myself over the years. I done the BMI cal.

and it rated me at 39.5%. Can someone please give me some advice or

just a boost!! Thanks once again for allowing me to join. It's very

encouraging...Christy

Hello Diane and All, Iam new to this group by about 2 weeks. Iamalso a

christian and have prayed a lot about if this was a thing Godwould let me do.

Well i now believe it is ok. I have been put intouch with a few Christians who

have also had it done. So iam goingfor it. I just sent my papers 6 weeks ago

and am waiting to hear fromthem as to when i go to a work shop. I called 2 weeks

ago and theysaid it takes 5 to6 weeks to hear from them. From the way it sounds

ihave a long wait ahead. No one ,family or friends, are behind my in this. So

what else isnew. My husbond told me yesterday that he is praying that they

turnme down. I am like all of you and been on every diet plan there is.

Iam57 and have been really over weight since i was 24.I was over 300 atone time

and now go 245. Iam diabetic, high bloodpressue, and anumber of other things. I

take 11 perscriptions. So i am praying iwill be able to get off of most of them.

Is there anyone here from Pa. I would be having it done lap inMagee Wemens

Hospital in Pittsburgh Pa. It will be a long drive as ilive about 89 miles north

of there. Well will shut up for now. I think this is a great group

ofpeople.Allways there for one another. God Bless each and every one of

I had a time getting my parents behind me as well...of course they are both in

their 70s so it is kind of hard for them to totaly understand. My mother keeps

saying " you won't be able to eat this, you won't be able to eat that " . But I

tell you, it is not about what I may mever eat again....I want to be around

longer to be able to eat anything at all....I am a Christian as well and have my

church family behind me....so keep the faith sister, it will all come into

fruition, it has for me.

God bless!
