Guest guest
I wanted to add in my experiences with walking and such in the hospital right after surgery. My surgery ended at aroun 8:30 am , but I remained in the recovery room for two hours before they had a bed available upstairs in the floor. This workout perfect for me. I had wonderful PACU nurses who very much want to see me in comfort, They covered me up with warm blankets because I was cold and gave me morphine IV and I was in Ami's happy forest, with unicorns and pegasus. My mind was in a happy fog. I felt no pain (although I was later told that I had rated my pain at a 7 at one point, but I dont remember any pain) and I felt love for people just pouring of out my heart. I grinned happily when my nurses face came into view over mine..... " Its my nurse, Amy, ~sigh giggle~ I love Amy, lovely girl * as I am patting her on the shoulder or lightly pinching her cheek* And I can tell from my experience of being that nurse that is caring for a patient that is on cloud 9, that the sweet smile she gives me back means she is thinking " Oh yes, Mrs Lowe, is a lover after anesthesia. " And I really am. Start giving me pain meds on top of that and I love the world. I want to hug my nurse, the lady at the reception desk, ol' Janitor too. So they kept me happy and I slept and no one bothered me a bit for the first few hours after surgery. After I got to my room and they got everything set up and I was pretty much awake, they didnt force much on me. I did my incentive spirometer, wore the compression hose and SCD boots. Sometime that evening I got up into a chair. The next day I was up and down those halls as much as I desired after I had showered. I was sore getting up and down, but once I was up, pain didnt affect mywalking - but fatigue sure did. I got tired very quickly.
Guest guest
Deb, I am on liquids for the first 3 - 4 weeks. I could add cream soups after one week, also applesauce, yogurt, and anything liquid. I enjoy V8 now also. I am use to the liquid now and it is easy, but there are times i need to chew on something, so surgar free popsicles saved me. I think I ate only those for the first week home..lol Good luck on monday and you are in my prayers. At my pre-surgery test the nurse asked me on a scale from 1-10 and 10 being the highest level what level do I rate that I can withstand pain at and I said a 2 LOL and I meant it. I am tough on other accords but pain reduces me to crying for my momma LOL. So I say bring on the pain meds LOL iv drips and morphine bliss hehehehe.
