It always saddens me to hear when someone is having a really hard

time with mega sides because....well, I just hate to see anyone feel

that shitty.

I pretty much have all those sides except I'm gaining weight again.

It doesn't help that my niece and I bought out the entire cake and

brownie isle because they were on sale, then she split after 2 days

which means I just HAD to eat them myself! That and I have a bad case

of PMS which makes everything seem worse.

Here's a few tips for you and trust me I know how hard it is to keep

up on hygiene when you don't feel like climbing in the shower, but

you'll feel better!

Brush your teeth 3 times a day, use a good mouthwash several times a

day, when your aching that bad take time out for a hot bath. As for

the memory loss make sure your family knows the meds affect you like

that and they will surely understand and do what they can to help.

Stay with them as long as you have to, they're your family and can

help you through this.

My husband and I actually sit here and laugh at how " stoopid " I've

become on tx because I can't remember from one minute to the next

what I'm doing! :-p Shucks, I have to use spell check regularly

lately because I draw a blank on the simplest words now and

then...but I even forget to use it sometimes. lol

How long do you have to go on tx and when did you start? I

feel I should know the answer to that already but I'm sure you

understand if it's a repeat question. ;-)

Also... does your doc know and approve of your injection being taken

five days after your last one? He should know if he doesn't.

I'm told most of the sides are caused by the ribavirin and not the

shot, (Someone please correct me on that if I'm wrong here.) so maybe

the time frame won't affect your sides that badly. Hopefully. :)

I think I'll go scrub the tub and soak for a while before bed time...

I really need to relax for a bit.

I hope you find some ways to ease your suffering , tx is

temporary and will not go on forever so try to hang tough baby!!

as it is now from the tx. I never in a million yrs. thought it would

Hi Gayle, thank you so much for your kind words & support. Lets see here ( I

gotta try to remember now), I have about 9 more months left of TX. Yap I'm

just getting started. I originally started in April, but had to restart in

August! And yes my Doc knows everything that happened, he's the one that told me

to go ahead & take it tonite, so I could get back on track with my schedule.

I've been taking my shots on Tuesdays ever since I restarted. I got real lucky

this time, I've been very blessed with such a good Doc. The first one I had was

something else. He never explained anything to me, he never warned me just how

bad some of the side effects could be. I ended up in the hospital several times.

Finally my mom ( God bless her heart) took me to one of the major hospitals here

to try to get me well. They brought in 3 liver specialists to see me. I had

severe lung infections, couldn't breath, my throat was swallon almost shut. That

Quack of a Doc I was seeing & the hospital I

was going to that he was out of just about killed me. I had a seizure & severed

the right side of my tongue in half. They didn't even know what to do for me.

Half the time they never checked my blood work. And you know that's the first

thing that is usually checked first. Boy, I'll tell ya, you have to really be

careful these days. But I'm just so grateful I hooked up with the Doc I have

now, he's just awesome, not to metion young & good looking! I have not so good

insurance so I wasn't sure what was going to happen. I think we should also be

provided with some kind of classes or support groups. Where I live they have one

support group once a month. That's just not enough. And of course now I can't

drive, I don't dare get behind the wheel of a car! Anywho I'm getting ready

to go let my Sister stick me. So I hope to talk to you real soon, again thank

you. Take Care of yourself & your hubby.

:-p Shucks, I have to use spell check regularly

lately because I draw a blank on the simplest words now and

ok, so you have 9 months to go which means you're probably gen 1a and

are on 48 weeks of tx. Did I get all that right?

Is it just me or do people with that genotype seem to have worse

sides because possibly it requires a higher dosage of medicine?

I only take 800mg a day of Riba and .50ml of peginterferon, are your

doses higher?

Did they ever tell you what the seizure was caused by?

(I'm just full of questions this morning. lol)

Oh man you went through more crap than I did with my first doc, there

certainly are some out there that have no idea what they're doing!!

My first one was as bad as yours but I also found a better one with a

referal from my family md thank goodness. He's 50 miles from here but

it's worth the trip just to look at him. lol He's a babe!

Seriously he's very infomative and good at his job.

Admittedly my truck sits in the driveway a lot more these days, and

having just gotten off Cymbalta I may have someone drive me there

this month because things have gotten a little " weird " behind my eyes

lately. Who knows though, maybe in 2 weeks that'll pass and I'll go

it alone.

Hey listen, although there are some who will disagree with me I'm

going to say it anyway... Drink a gallon of water a day if you can!

It not only hydrates you from the inside but it will flush toxins out

of your body which can only make you feel better. :)

And rest when you need to! Lay any guilt aside and sleep all damned

day if you have to!

I hope you get to feeling better and can hack the months ahead of

you. Remember that this will pass and a day will come when it'll be

behind you.

Take care. :)

ok, so you have 9 months to go which means you're probably gen 1a and

are on 48 weeks of tx.

I hope you get to feeling better and can hack the months ahead of

you. Remember that this will pass and a day will come when it'll be

behind you.

Take care. :)

Hey everybody, it has deen a minute since I have wrote anything,, I have been

really doing some soul searching and some studying on this whole tx thing. I

think that I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to do treatment. I

have been reading studys that yes, you have sides while you are on tx, but post

tx alot of people have worse sides. Blindeness, servere depression to the fact

that they have to be put away or they commit sucide. I sit here and read how all

of you cant go to work you cant even get up to go check the mail or get yourself

a glass of soda or water. I guess I am not realy understanding the whole thing

if you know your going to be worse off after the fact then why do it.. Yeah tx

might help your hep C not a gaurentee so you would rather tx something that

after tx you have to worry about serious post tx sides.. PLEASE.... someone make

me understan this whole concept.

Hey Gayle, yes I'm a 1a geno, stage 2. I'm on 1200 Riba & 180 Pegasys. I do know

that this geno is the hardest to treat. And I think the Riba is the worse side

affects of all. I took my shot last night as planned. So of course I feel real

crapy today. I have rashes on my arms, real ichy. I'm goning to take your

suggestion & start drinking the water. I was drinking alot of water than I kinda

slacked off. I'm not a big water person, I perfer 7-up. See I gave up all the

caffine & chocolate, man that was hard. I had been addicted to mountain dew for

years & well as coff/caps. well thanks again for your words of wisdom. Take

Care,

It was do or die for me so any other reason is pointless to explain

on my part.

It's your choice Tammy so don't let anyone talk you into doing

something you don't want to.

Are you planning an alternative means of treatment??

Good luck with whatever you do and I hope you'll still stick around,

I like talking to Tammy and this group is not just for people on

interferon and riba. :)

Ahhhh, that's what I thought. You're on a higher dose so of course

your sides are worse. That makes sense to me.

Yeah I always feel the worst the day after my shot too. (Today was

shot day for me)

I'm a diet 7-up kinda gal, there's just something soooo refreshing

about it but I've gotten hooked on ice water somehow and go through 2

bags of ice a week. lol

My Mom always had a skin problem that drove her nuts and she'd use a

moisturizer called Urcerin but I'm not sure that's how it's spelled.

It's water based and non irritating. You might give that a try on the

itchy skin.

Hey Gayle, yeah I know what your talking about, I have some. Eucerin, it's real

expensive. But I bought some shortly after I started tx. I always forget to use

it, (imagine that). And than I bought the 1 in the big jar, so it's real

thick, and it takes forever to put on. Honestly, I just don't have the energy.

It takes everthing I have just to take a shower everyday. Thats 1 thing I'm real

funny about, is hygene. And a clean enviorment. I'm constantly washing my hands,

but you know Iv'e always been that way. Well as always good to talk to you, good

luck with your shot tonite! Take Care

Gayle <mollydamaula@...> wrote: Ahhhh, that's what I thought.

You might give that a try on the

itchy skin.

, Hi there!

I am not new to this group, I just haven't been here in over a year now.

I just wanted to tell you or maybe somehow reassure you that all that you

are going through is normal... It doesn't by ANY means make it any easier -

this I know too well myself. I just finished a second round of TX in March

- and I had every side affect you mentioned and then some... Both times,

and after the first time, I swore I would never do TX again. But I became

so incapacitated this time from the sides, that we had to lower the TX, the

really bad part was, I was responding, but as soon as I lowered the

medications, my viral load sky rocketed and they stopped the treatment. I

was literally bed ridden from my sides, I was so weak, and also developed RA

- Rhuematiod Arthritis, which became so severe while on TX, that I ended up

on like 60 mg of oxiycodne 4 tx a day to deal with the pain. So if the

sides, the RA wasn't keep me in bed - the pain medications were, I was a

walking zombie..

I don't know how far along you are - but hang in there if you can, I truly

believe it is worth the fight...

Keep in touch..

May God Bless you and all of us..

Hey Ya'll, well if ya'll remember last week I had lost my meds. So I always

take my shot on Tuesdays, well due to the fact that they had to order me

some more meds, I couldn't take it til Thursday. No I have to take it again

tonite, which will be 5 dys. apart this time instead of 7. I'm real nervous

about this I'm not so sure what kind of side effects I'm gonna have. I

already have real bad side effects as it is now from the tx. I never in a

million yrs. thought it would make me this sick. I can hardly function. I

can't work anymore, Iv'e had to move in with my family, I have loss of

memory & eye sight. Aneimia, hairloss, weightloss, ulcers in my throat &

mouth, thrush. Alot of pain in my hands, arms, & legs. Jesus, I know theres

more. I don't know if I can do this. Not to mention all the emotional &

mental effects. I was already crazy before the treatment, I guess now I just

certifiable. thanks for listening, I'm not so good with talking to people.

hahaaa. Yeah the hair thing is really a problem but my sister-in-law lost

all her hair on chemo-therapy for breast cancer. My hair is so thin it's

almost funny. I will try the ponds sound like a good idea, don't know when I

can go off procrit but hopefully soon. Get tired of pills and shots hope

they don't need to add the other shot for the white count. That one is

slowly coming up but still very low. Very depressed right now but it will

pass lol. love and hugs..pat

Hey Tim, how's it feel to be on the upswing you lucky devil you!!!?

God I can't wait to feel better. lol I'm really glad for you. :)

Pat, my hair is thinning badly already at week 8 but my friends are

taking me wig shopping if it gets too bad. lol

I JUST started growing my hair out a half a year before starting this

and it's really killing me to see my newly aquired wavey locks

hanging off my brush. :(

Oh well... it'll grow back I'm sure and they make some lovely wigs.

lol

So how long will you have to take the procrit you think before you

get a reprieve? I'm happy to hear it isn't making you as sick this

time around. :)

Hey speaking of being all dry and wrinkled (like me lol) try Ponds

and a facial buff puff, you'll be amazed at the difference in your

skin. I use the cleansing one (makeup remover) with the buff and

rinse, then mix the original moisturizer with a little cool water on

my face and wipe it off gently with a damp cool cloth. Works

wonders. :)

Take care,

Hi , thankyou so much for your support. Yes the sides r unbareable & they

keep me in bed most of the time. I have no life, I don't go anywhere except th

Docs., Hospital, Pharmacy & to see the Shrink! It really sucks. I'm on all

kinds of other meds besides the tx too, including pain meds. I look & feel like

a Zombie all the time. I have to take meds for the pain, I have to take meds

to help me sleep. Then I'm on B.P. meds, Phyc. meds. Jesus I lose track all the

time. Now my blood is low. Anyways, I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers

always.
