It is in part how it is all written up, or used to be anyway......

since implants are deemed by the medical world as very safe

then an eploratory, with removal and biopsy of any unhealthy

tissue or nodules will work.....the need for surgery is pain and

nodules....cuz they are there and this is true !

for me, there was thick rubbery tissue with cystic material

and some with necrosis....

If implants are safe, then they didnt cause the cysts, and necrosis,

and cysts and necrosis in any other body part is covered by insurance.....

There are usually giant cells and foamy histeocytes and all kinds of

inflammation in there......causing the pain you are having.....

Re: Insurance / Supplements before surgery

Hi a,

If you have a copy of your certificate of coverage, that will help - Find the section on cosmetic surgery. Go over that with your surgeon's billing office. In my research for a surgeon, I discovered that Dr. Kolb in Atlanta was very willing to help me get it pushed through if need be, but when she read my certificate of coverage, she said that no matter what it wouldn't have been covered.

Also, if you are self-insured, did you notify your insurance of the implants when you disclosed previous conditions? If not, you might not want to get "put on the radar" by submitting a claim for coverage of the surgery.

OR - If you have insurance through group coverage at your employer, I'd say to meet with the HR rep who is in charge of benefits and go over what kinds of things could cause you to get dropped.

I just had my surgery last week and was given a list of things to be off of. I don't see all of your individual supplement names on the list, but I'd have your doctor's office go over their labels and look for ingredients that are no-no's. I took a probiotic before my surgery because I had a sinus issue I was battling. Also, I was told to start my bromelain, which is a digestive enzyme, 3 days prior to surgery and to continue it after the surgery.

As for financing if insurance isn't an option, my husband and I did "CareCredit." See if your doctor's office has that as an option. They have many payment plans. We put our deposit down on a 6-month no interest plan, and we put the rest on a 48-month plan with a higher interest rate. I have heard that you CANNOT be late with them or they will jack your rate up to the max (25.9% I think)... but for me, my health was worth the risk. There is NO price on good health. I figured I had paid enough over 11 years of lowered quality of life and was going to pay with my health indefinitely without the surgery. Be absolutely sure your surgeon will be taking the capsule and any remaining other abnormal looking tissue out, even if that's more expensive. If they do not believe in the possibility of these implants causing your problems, then they are NOT the right surgeon.

Good luck, and I hope you feel much better very soon :)

Well, yes, I am saying with proper wording, providing

it is all true, makes a huge difference on weather a claim

is paid or not.

Her arguement could be, all the doctors say how safe

they are, my problems cant be from implants....

Just cuz she has them slip the implants out while in there doesnt

mean they caused the problems......

Now, she does have to not mind implants being on her permanent

record...even if they are, Qualified doctors and the government

say they are safe, and so, past history of having implants should

not be used against a person.

Re: Insurance / Supplements before surgery

So if I read that correctly, then what you are saying is that if a's doctor can bill the procedure as medically necessary "exploratory surgery" due to cysts, nodules, inflammation, and pain, then perhaps she would only have to pay the "plastic" part of the surgery but not the majority of it, which is the looking around and taking out of suspicious tissue for biopsy and pathology. Hmmmm.... That's an interesting thought.

If the insurance company wouldn't like this claim to be coming from a plastic surgeon, maybe a, you could visit your primary or OB/GYN and get referred to a general surgeon, then ask him/her to work in tandem with the plastic surgeon (have the plastic surgeon come to your exploratory surgery -- they do this type of thing all the time), so that most of the costs are covered, like the operating room, anesthesia, biopsies, pathology (not that of the implants though) and exploratory portion. Then the plastic surgeon can guide the process, and do the removal of the capsule and breast lift (if any) and proper suturing to minimize scarring.

This will, of course, result in some information in your medical records that indicates you have had implants.

Something to look into, for sure!

Good luck a! I wish you total health and a speedy recovery.

:)

Thank you all for your ideas with the surgery coveragewording.  I will suggest this and see what the doctor says.  I suppose it’s upto them on how they’ll word it.  I just don’t understand why I didn’t get better the first time Igot the implants and (part) capsule out with Melmed.  I thought he was supposedto be good.  I wonder how much of the capsule was actually left and if it’senough to cause my burning arm/chest pains.  When I read about fibromyalgia itdoes say some people experience the burning pains but I just find it all toocoincidental that it is only on my chest and arms so I know it is from theimplants.  Can someone direct me on how to use the search more efficiently? I typed in ‘burning’ too see if anyone else had this type of pain and I didfind a few posts.  Is there a better way to search the posts?     From: [mailto: ] OnBehalf Of DGRAHAMA@...Sent: Wednesday, April 28, 2010 9:46 PM Subject: Re: Re: Insurance / Supplements before surgery I worked in the field for 26 years, what can I say, I learned from the best............LOLOLOL..The better they word things the better the pay... Dr Melmed is good....I am sure he honestly thought

you would be ok......some people just cant stand any

debris tho.....I had the burning pain up and down my right

arm and up my neck.....and had some strange numbing

at times too, got to where I would drop stuff all the time

and it was getting hard to write....

What happened was my body encapsulated the debris

and it just got bigger and bigger, became cystic

and necrotic....it wrapped itself around my collar bone

and it was thick and rubbery, per the path report.....

So, you just never know....

I hope you heal quickly...and completely

Sending you hugs and prayers
