I am planning on doing this instead of a mammogram. I will have to travel to get it done, unless I find someone in Vegas that does thermography, but I feel very strongly against ever doing a mammogram. You can check out the website, maybe someone knows where you can do it in Vegas. I am not planning on doing it for a couple of months since I recently had implants put back in. What is your reasons for doing the thermography instead of a mammogram? I heard that the mammogram can cause cancer cells to spread???? My doc said they were delayed responses, and I believe it because my issues were not that bad while implanted, only afterwaed did they escalate. I developed symptoms like fibromyalgia, and those are subsiding now. I also developed (after explant) carpal tunnel syndrome, due to water retention, but I treated that with an OTC device. Then I developed arthritis in my knee and colitis. I'm battling those now. That's why when the lump appeared I thought, " Oh, no, not another ugly remnant " . Suzanne Somers talks about this in her books quite in depth, and not only her, but other internet sites have expressed concerns about the dangers of mammograms as well. So, I just decided if I am going to have anyone examine my breasts with diagnostic machines, it will be thermography which seems to be much safer. Why did you have your implants put back in? I had an infection about 3 months after surgery and the PS took out the implant and cleaned the area and put back the same implant. It was never quite right afterward. It seemed to have moved and not be in like it was originally, then 2 years later I ended up with something wrong again this past August. I ended up going on 3 rounds of antibiotcs for 2 months till I finally had them taken out. The Mri I got said there seemed to be a rupture. The PS said there was not a rupture. So he cleaned me out and I stayed without implants for about 6 weeks. I then got reimplanted on a Monday in November and by Friday I was getting cut again. I am not sure why he did not cut out the supposedly massive amount of scar tissue on Monday. This whole process has baffled me and he seems to be just as baffled. I am going to follow up with him and then this summer I am going to see another PS. I am still not satisfied with my results , the left breast scar is higher up on my breast so there is a bubble like effect. I had been so stressed out over this whole ordeal. Cut 5 times on one side and 4 times on the other in a 2 and 1/2 year time period. I also agree about thermography being safer then a mammogram, from what I have read. EVER ! He just doesnt want any law suits...... Your body does not like foreign objects.......and sounds like your immune system is not up to par......that is why it isnt fighting the invaders very well. You need to beef up your immune system. Are you wanting to try implants again ? If so, let your body heal a year or so while you beef up your immune system. I am sorry you have had such a rough go at it. I wish you well with your healing journey.....I would go ahead and change doctors.... A real good doctor wont deny or pretend that this doesnt happen....as it happens often ! Take care..... Like I said I have been on a roller coaster ride with this. My PS is a top surgeon and was chief of surgery so I have been having a tough time wondering if he has been doing me wrong. Believe me I have already considered a lawsuit. I spoke to one attorney but he told me statue of limitations is 2 years. Many girls have heart trouble while having implants and as soon as the implants are removed, the heart trouble gets better, and for some it goes away, but for some.......it is not reversable.. Did your doctor tell you that most the time when people have problems like you that the likelyhood of continueing to have big problems is at least 30 percent ? Please research the archives........and learn everything you can about problems and what to watch for....... I have to say I never thought there were any problems with saline implants especially since most of my friends have implants including my sister, and I am the only person that has had problems. Some of my friends have silicone. Only one friends sister felt she got sick from her implants and she had silicone. I am hoping I do not have any more problems, but after reading all the illnesses that the girls have on this site it is pretty scary. Are all the illnesses due to the implants????I am also once again curious about the weight gain theory. I have a hard time believing that could be true. I have gained some weight but I also have not been able to train like I used to because of the many surgeries plus I ate because I was upset. We also have to consider weight gain as we age as our HGH levels go way down and we can not lose weight like we did in the past. Just my thoughts. Saline has a 2-5 year shelf life depending on manufacture. Have you gone to the photo section of the group and looked at all the " Saline " implants that are full of fungus/mold, and many bacteria types ? How ill, and how quick you get ill, depends on how genetics coupled with how many hits to your immune system it takes. For me, when my problems started, I started with horrible night sweats, and being tired..achey......and I was turning 40 soon, so after awhile of this, I went to the gyn and had a check up and hormone testing to see if I was going into menopause. I was NOT......so it was being blamed on age anyway. I had been diagnosed with neuropathy 2 years prior, because I started having numbness and tingleing in my arms and hands, then it moved to my feet, didnt know why that was happening, and the docs were just watching it.......anyway a couple months passed and I had played some basketball with my son, and my right pec muscle was sore, so I was feeling in there and found 5 large marble sized lumps running along side my right implant and in the armpit. Went and saw my fam doc the next morning........and he thought I had a rupture and sent me for a mammogram. Well......the mammogram squashed my boob so hard it blew the implant out, and silicone went thru the top of the scar capsule, up over my right shoulder. A copy of it is in the archives. They didnt schedule me for surgery for another several weeks, because " Silicone was safe " Well.......... I had 7 surgeries over the next couple years to remove tumors, siliconomas, granulomas, many cystic, some gangrene ! , and one that grew so much junk around it that it filled an entire urine cup, and barely at that. It took my doc 6 hours to remove it. My implants were silicone filled silicone implants.....and only had them 4 years. Was diagnosed with my first odd thing within 2 years.....dont remember when it started. anyway....I was diagnosed with lupus in that time period, and was severly ill. I had to stop working in 1999. I was extremely healthy before getting implants. A very active mother of 2. Never ever sick.....Since I wrote what is on that site, I have had more surgery and am due to have heart surgery again within a few months.....I have been too ill to have the current old salinhe implants removed that is until recently, but have to have a new pacemaker/defibrillator put in before I can have these out. I was told they will be inducing a heart attack when they do it, so they can be sure the 3 wires that are attached inside 3 of the chambers to control my heart are still attached to the worst places. It has taken me almost 5 years to prove to my doctors that I had a systemic fungal infection, but not til after I put myself on mega doses of cap acid and I began to get better. I was totally bedridden til that time. My cardiologists are so impressed with what I have done, that they are studying it to recommend it to other patients. The left implant squashes my heart, and I cannot lay on my left side or it makes it jerk, and my blood pressure take a dive. There are some 40 neuro-toxic chemicals they use in the manufacture of silicone for implantation. ( the list is in the archives ) This slowly permeates inside you. Many girls get multiple chemical sensitivities and dont realize that it is because they have a toxic chemical soup tucked neatly inside their left chest up against their hearts ! Listen to your sister and friends that have implants......See if they talk about having headaches, stomach aches or sweats......or being achey or being tired, having allergies, just anything, even rashes.....or heart palps or alittle dizzy at times. The silicone does cross the endocrin barrier, it speaks of this even on the FDA site. They used to have it under immuno/toxicology, but not under breast implants, even though it says in there that silicone does that.......which gets your hormones off balance. I believe a copy of that report is in the archives. The weight gain is from several things.......an underlieing systemic infection, not being as active because you get tired more easily, feeling bad so often, heart trouble, kidney trouble, just all kinds of reasons...Many many girls get hashimotos thyroiditis, which messes with your weight. Your body just does not know how to regulate everything now that it has all those toxic chemicals to deal with. Hugs Dede Re: Re: Yipee-Doo-Da-Day! Hey Patty, Yes, I had problems with my original implants. I had an infection about 3 months after surgery and the PS took out the implant and cleaned the area and put back the same implant. It was never quite right afterward. It seemed to have moved and not be in like it was originally, then 2 years later I ended up with something wrong again this past August. I ended up going on 3 rounds of antibiotcs for 2 months till I finally had them taken out. The Mri I got said there seemed to be a rupture. The PS said there was not a rupture. So he cleaned me out and I stayed without implants for about 6 weeks. I then got reimplanted on a Monday in November and by Friday I was getting cut again. I am not sure why he did not cut out the supposedly massive amount of scar tissue on Monday. This whole process has baffled me and he seems to be just as baffled. I am going to follow up with him and then this summer I am going to see another PS. I am still not satisfied with my results , the left breast scar is higher up on my breast so there is a bubble like effect. I had been so stressed out over this whole ordeal. Cut 5 times on one side and 4 times on the other in a 2 and 1/2 year time period. I also agree about thermography being safer then a mammogram, from what I have read. One of my closest friends has had her implants for about 20 years and has not had any health issues. It doesn't seem fair when I know soooooo many women on this group and other groups who have suffered tremendously, losing everything they have or love. It's a tragedy for sure. I wish we knew why. My stance is that my illness was purely due to my implants. I had no other explanation for the dramatic health crisis I went through 8 months post implantation. None. And then after my implants were removed, I gradually regained my health over a period of time. To this day, I have no other explanation other than it was my implants. And the other women have similar stories that include PROOF through blood tests that improve upon explant. Why do you have a hard time believing implants would be associated with weight gain? It is entirely plausible, given the physiology of our bodies in reaction to stress. Any foreign object in the body is going to be seen as an invader that needs to be attacked. This is " stress " to a healthy body. The immune system goes into attack mode. The adrenal glands increase output of cortisol in response to stress, and in fact, the whole endocrine system, being a finely tuned orchestra is affected. Many women end up with thyroid issues, including autoimmune thyroiditis, or Hashimoto's, which is what I have. High stress= higher output of cortisol, and this can go on continuously since our implants are inside the body 24/7/365. High cortisol = weight gain. Low thyroid= weight gain. Not only that, but once you experience the devastating effects of implants on your immune system resulting in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, you are going to be doing alot of laying around. Some women are bedridden. Exercise is out of the question. The same goes for those who have fibromyalgia, another common outcome from implants. Let me just tell you that it is a FACT that many women put on weight as a result of implants. We've seen it over and over again. Regarding weight gain as we age, that does happen, but not always. I depends on your activity level, your metabolism, your endocrine system, and your health. Weight gain for those over the age of 40 or 50, yes, probably, but perhaps not overtly. In those who are in their 20's and 30's? Something else is going on! I hope this has been enlightening somewhat. I don't have all the answers, but I've been involved in breast implant support long enough (over 10 years) to know that indeed, implants are doing these things.
