Docs again today

Hello Everyone,

I hope this finds you all enjoying the lovely weather (well, we have hot, humid

weather here...but winter is just around the corner!) and not having to deal

with much pain.

I went back to the doctor this morning and this time saw a nurse practitioner.

I've seen her before and she was very nice. She brought in one of the teaching

physcians this time to try to help with my pain management. He said short of

putting me on a narcotic there was not a lot he could do for me... so they gave

me Ultram (which I have tried in the past, and it didn't do much.) and said to

try it for the weekend. We'll see how well it works. I talked to the

pharmacist and he said I can take the darvocet if the Ultram doesn't do the job,

so that is a plus. This doctor got a little upset when I told him what the

other doctor said about taking three Darvocet at a time. He made me have

another liver function and my cholesterol drawn. (that is something I haven't

had done in a long time, but the liver function I just had done on Tuesday.) He

said that that much darvocet over three days is too much and he wants to make

sure I didn't damage my liver. (hmmm...something new to worry about...geesh

like I don't have enough already!) He also gave me Creon 10 and said that he

didn't know why I hadn't already been put on them. I told him about the group

and all of the information I have gained from being a part of this forum. He

was surprised about how much I knew, but wasn't surprised that I had gotten my

info from the net. He admitted that he wasn't very well versed in problems of

the pancreas, but that any info I would like to bring in he would welcome. He

also said that he was glad to see a patient that was willing to educate

themselves about the illness that they had to live with. (now hows that for a

good visit??) The nurse and the doc said that if I had any different Ideas

about enzymes or pain meds that won't knock me out I could share them with them

and they would see what they could come up with. Hmmmm.... I think I like this

new doc, lol.

Well, I have my Grandson here and he is being a fuss butt, so I will go for now.
