Guest guest
Hi, I have read many posts about parents using activated charcoal and epsom bath salts for their children and I also read the link regarding using these during die off. I am not very educated about these- would someone mind sharing with me exactly what are they being used for and how do they help? I also have read posts about the use of enzymes... is there a source of info that could help me with those, too? Thanks so much, Allyson Mom of Zachary (4 years old, IBD and sensory defensiveness 2 years, , SCD 4 months)
Guest guest
Hi, Allyson. We do not use activated charcoal, but we have had wonderful success with epsom salt baths, creams, etc. www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm has great information about epsom salts, how they help with digestion, and why they are beneficial. I cannot imagine the early days/die-off days without it! There is other interesting stuff on the site, as well, including information about enzymes, SCD, PDD, etc. whole family SCD 2 years Mom to Dakota (8--NF, BWS, CDD, seizures) and (5--happy, healthy, supportive little brother)
Guest guest
Hi , Are there any dangers in epsom salt baths? We do a clay bath once a week and was wondering if this would be something I could add to my little guys schedule. Guest guest
Hi, Darci. We have been using the epsom salts baths on and off for about four years and consistently for the last two years since starting SCD. I have seen nothing but positive effects. There have been days that we have lived in the tub--three+ baths a day when the aggression was so profound, and the baths did the trick every time. Our son now asks for them when he is not feeling right. There were a few questions a few months back about the safety of the baths, and I asked our team of doctors at our semi-annual check-up. None of the 12+ docs, residents, etc. saw a problem (kidney specialists, neurologists, geneticist, dev. pediatrician, autism team, neurobehavioral team, etc.). The body does not store up magnesium, so toxicity does not occur the way it does with other minerals, etc. This is why magnesium orally is a laxative. However, none of us have ever experienced diarrhea/gi trouble from the epsom salt baths Check the posts from June of this year (message # 32694) and the threads for the Chelation and SCD. I wrote about our experiences with epsom salts and several other people included questions and comments. Good luck.
