Good on you for being stubborn, it is not a bad thing as I'm sure you

have found out.

My Doctor even said that if I hadn't been so stubborn, I would never

have been diagnosed.

I went on a research binge myself, presented him with the facts, then

told him to disprove them. He couldn't, so I got my diagnoses of CP.

Good luck with your treatment.

no more wanting it... I have to have it. Ok, ok... I got a call from

the surgeons office manager telling me that I need to schedule an

appointment with my PCP, for a full physical. I called, and the

nurse had the doctor call me. (shock!) He was somewhat confused by

the whole thing. He told me that I am supposed to have my consult

first, then my physical. Well, I guess somehow things got lost in

translation, so he called the surgeons office and talked to the

surgeon. (he said) When he called me back yesterday, he told me to go

ahead and schedule the appointment for ASAP but not to get my hopes

up because he had talked to the surgeon and he said he wouldn't do

the surgery until my pancreatitis had completely healed. OK... I was

a little bit upset by this time. I told him I don't have

pancreatitis I have CHRONIC pancreatitis and it doesn't just " heal " .

And that this surgery IS a recommended treatment for chronic

pancreatitis. (I looked most of the day yesterday until I found

articles siting this to take to him, just in case he didn't believe

me at the physical.) He just told me to come in and he would do what

he could. He is also making me sign a pain contract... stating that

they (MSU KCMS) would be handling all of my pain meds and

management... YAY!! That's what I have been waiting for!

en Y and chronic pancreatitis. I found more than I bargained for and

have compiled quite a list of really great sites to add to the book

marks area of the forum. Not only on this procedure but lots of

other categories too!!! During my search (I kept going this

afternoon when we got back home) this afternoon I recieved a phone

call from the surgeons office (I had called the gal yesterday and

told her what the PCP had said) she told me that she talked to the

surgeon and he wanted me to go ahead and schedule my appointment

(Sept 20th) for my initial consult, and she told me he called (the

surgeon) and had a talk with my pcp about the procedure and how it

works and that he would appreciate it if he wouldn't tell potential

clients " not to get their hopes up " . This docs name is Saber... I

think he is living up to the " sharpness " of his name, lol!! YAY!!!

I like docs who speak what they think!

bent a lilttle though and knows I mean business!! If not, I have

almost a half a ream of paper filled with facts about

pancreatitis/acute/chronic and any information he could care to learn

about this procedure. Not light reading either. A friend of mine

was telling me after I decided to check out this combination... I

should change my aol screen name from MeanOleRedHead to

StubbornOleRedHead, hehehe!
