Guest guest
Hi, my name is Rob, I am 28 years old from NYC. I am a new member to the group. I don't know where to begin so I will start from the beginning. I believe I have always had rosacea. I remember as a child being teased by my classmates. It must have been in the 3rd or 4th grade when the kids teased me about my blemishes, I was told it looked like a mouse had walked across my face and left his foot prints on it. I know children can been crude and I guess I dealt with it. My rosacea problem doesn't appear all over my face or even on both of my cheeks, just on my right cheek and some of my nose (Though I didn't find out about the nose until later). It seems as if I have about 7 blemishes on my right cheek. Strangely enough, nothing was ever done about the blemishes, it just seemed to go away. As I got older, I dated quite a bit. My mother always told me I grew up to be a very handsome man and I guess dating a lot confirmed that. About a year ago I was out with a friend when she asked me why my face was red on one side, there wasn't a mirror at hand so I couldn't see what she was talking about. I just said/thought that I had a rash, I really didn't think about it. It wasn't until after I got home that I noticed what she was talking about. Memories of getting teased as a child came back and hit me. I was confused, shocked and I didn't know what in God's name was going on. The every next morning I went to see a Dermatologist. He didn't view me with a machine or anything, he just looked at my face and said I had cea. I had the blemishes on my right cheek and the Dr told me I had cea on my nose as well, I really wasn't concerned about my nose. My Mother had a red nose so I figured I got that from her . However, I was devastated about Roseca, I didn't know anything about it. My Doctor tried to comfort me by telling me that it can be treated (Maybe I thought being treated meant it could be cured at the time) and it would eventually go away. I was given Metro lotion (Told to be applied twice a day) and Minocycline pills (Once a day). I remember leaving the Doctor's office thinking it was no big deal, I thought I would be fine. How naïve I was. At first everything seemed ok. The Dr did tell me that it would take a few weeks before the metro lotion would kick in, the redness wasn?t so bad so I just dealt with it. After a few weeks everything seemed to go back to normal. About two weeks ago I decided to put a Scrub on my face to clear away some blackheads I had on my forehead. I didn't think anything because I used a scrub on my face many times in the past. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS! My face became very dry on the right side (My rosacea side), at times I thought it was going to crack on me, I guess it was the Angry Face syndrome? I went back to the DR and he gave me a cortisone shot (I requested it). Now he has me taking Dermatop and Noritate with the Minocycline pills (Once a day). He told me to use the Dermatop in the morning and the Noritate when I go to bed. The Doctor never mentioned anything about not using a scrub or avoiding anything such as Alcohol, Stimulants, the Sun, etc. It wasn't until I looked online and found a ton of useful information. Now since I am really new to all this, I have a lot of questions, I would appreciate any help: I am reading a lot about Photo Dem (Photofacial) and I am really considering it, does it really work? Anyone try it and it didn't work for them? Is it expensive? I also believe that I have Ocular cea, I am going to get this checked out right after New Years. I do wear contact lens, however, is this going to be a problem? Is there anything I should be taking such as vitamins or oils if I do have Ocular cea? What is the deal with Flax Seed Oil? I have read that some of the members in the group have been using it, how does it help with cea? What about Oregano Juice? How does that help? I have seen a product call cea Ltd III, Has anyone used it? If so does it work as advertised? One of my greatest joys was coming home on a cold evening from work and taking a hot bubble bath, is that over? Might be a foolish question, but is a cure near? I am very glad I found this group. I was beginning to feel all alone . By reading many of the letters I feel confident that I can beat this disease, I think we all can . I hope everyone has a very safe and Happy New Year. My best, Rob NYC
Guest guest
WLS will make you more fertile! It is best to wait 12-18 months to become pregnant (unlike my accidental 6 months) Ihave been married 18 years and have not been able to concieve since the 80's even with 5x doses of chlomid. Now there was only 1 oppertunity in dec. and hear I am at 5 1/2 weeks. Had I known how much fertile I would become post op I would have gotten WLS years ago. I didn't truely do the WLS reserch before and assumed that it would not be nutritionally healthy. I have since found out it would be much healthier than having a 49 BMI & diabetes along with PCOS. I say go for the surgery but everyons situation is different and maybe you should talk to a doctor about your situation. - Diane RNY 7/14/03 270/192/135 EDD 9/10/
